Today we celebrate the 160th anniversary of the birth of Jean Sibelius (1865–1957), Finland’s most iconic composer. Known for his symphonies and tone poems, Sibelius captured the spirit of Finnish nature and national identity in music. From the sweeping grandeur of Finlandia to the introspective beauty of his later symphonies, his works continue to inspire audiences worldwide. 🌲🎼

In these words, from 1991, Radu Lupu outlined his artistic vision. He remains one of the most outstanding pianists of his generation. To mark what would have been his 80th birthday, we are proud to present a collection set of recordings from radio broadcasts and never-before-released tapes from the Decca archives.

Today we celebrate 112 years of Benjamin Britten. Born in 1913, he became one of the most important British composers of the 20th century, with an output spanning opera, orchestral works, and chamber music. He is renowned for works such as War Requiem, Peter Grimes, and The Turn of the Screw. In 1976, Britten was awarded a life peerage, becoming the first musician to receive this honour.
