Setting the Records Straight: Mohbad, Wummi, Sam Larry, Naira Marley & VDM
When the world woke up to the painful news of Mohbad’s death, it shook millions to the core, not just because of his rising star power, but because of the strange circumstances surrounding his passing. Almost immediately, cries for justice echoed across social media, the streets, and even international headlines. People demanded answers. People wanted truth. People wanted peace for a young soul gone too soon.
Soon after, disturbing videos began to surface. In one, Sam Larry was seen physically confronting Mohbad during a video shoot. The video sparked outrage. Nigerians were furious.
Why was Mohbad being bullied?
Who was behind the constant harassment he publicly cried out about before his death?
The fingers pointed not only at Sam Larry, but also at Naira Marley, Mohbad’s former label boss, under whose wings many believed this toxic culture festered. The public was demanding accountability and real justice.
Then, in the middle of that righteous anger, one voice began to change the tone, VeryDarkMan (VDM). A man known for speaking the truth, exposing wrongs, and challenging the status quo, VDM suddenly took a turn that left many confused and disappointed. Instead of focusing on the bullying and alleged abuse, VDM began pushing a different narrative that Mohbad’s child might not be his, but instead Sam Larry’s. This DNA controversy, while sensational, felt like a distraction from the main issue. It shifted the public conversation from justice for Mohbad to gossip and paternity drama.
I remember making a video back then, calling out VDM for bullying Mohbad’s wife and dragging her through unnecessary pain while she was grieving. I said it then: this isn’t justice, this is torment. And people came for me. They insulted me. They said I was taking sides. But a few months ago, that same VDM turned around and said, “Maybe Mohbad’s wife is innocent.” Just like that. After all that damage had already been done.
Now, years later, he sits down in an interview with the same Sam Larry and claims Sam Larry didn’t bully Mohbad. That same Sam Larry we all saw in a viral video harassing Mohbad?
The one whose presence made Mohbad visibly uncomfortable? Suddenly, the story changes again.
It’s heartbreaking.
Let me be clear , I love VDM. I respect his courage, his boldness, and his willingness to challenge powerful people and to make sure Nigeria is better again, I’ve supported him on many issues, and I still believe he has an important voice in this generation. But on this one, it’s a NO. On this matter, he missed it. This isn’t about clout, content, or controlling a narrative. This is about a young life lost, a grieving family, and a nation still looking for answers.
Justice for Mohbad should never have been replaced with speculation and confusion. The truth still matters. The pain is still raw. The questions are still unanswered.
And we won’t forget.
