“So, your readers know, planned obsolescence is making stuff so it falls apart, so that you buy it again. I can’t think of anything more unethical than that. Its proponents would say it makes jobs. ‘What are we going to do with all these American soldiers who laid down their lives after World War II to fight for freedom and defeat the N***s? Now that they’ve come back and we’ve been able to make manufacturing better than anyone else on Earth, we gotta start inventing tail fins and s**t that falls apart, so that they have jobs because we gotta employ these people.’” Tom Sachs
