Straight from the heart of the 1991 UK rave scene — CUT001, later known as Rabbit City 001, captures the raw underground energy of the era. Originally a short-run white label promo, the record became an instant cult classic.

Produced by Blow alongside Colin Faver (Kiss FM legend RIP), the release was born out of London’s early rave network — record shops packed with weekend ravers, distributors playing new cuts down the phone, and pirate radio pushing the boundaries.

As you’d possibly expect given the legally dubious nature of unofficial remixes, there’s not much information to be found about the producer or producers behind this single-sided revision of Depeche Mode’s 1990 synth-pop classic ‘Enjoy The Silence’. They’ve done a rather good job though, combining effects-laden snippets from the Essex band’s much-loved original (largely the vocals, jangly guitars and some of the ear-pleasing synth work) with surging synth sounds, tech-house style electronic noises and a rolling, non-stop house groove. Whether needed or not, it has the feel of a guaranteed party-starter/peak-time anthem. Perfect for holiday season DJ sets - and any excuse for celebratory sing-alongs.

Drumskull returns to the rave announcing the second release on his own label: Dream Machine. A collaborative track developed from an initial sketch by South London rave instigator, DJ, producer and head honcho of the Subsidance collective: Pressa, Dream Machine is an unapologetic love letter to the all night party. Combining heavy breaks, driving sub bass, an infectious chord melody, frenetic acid line and lush, soaring synth pad layers, Dream Machine offers it’s hand to pull you deep into the dance. Unashamedly euphoric in it’s approach, Dream Machine has been retooled for all dancefloors by breaks and bass heavyweights Borai and Settle Down as well as Drumskull himself, reinventing the theme across the tempos ready for deployment in a wide variety of DJ sets, radio shows and playlists.
