Fall Out | The Prisoner Review

The last episode was anxiously watched by millions of viewers, all eager to find out who was Number One. For those who had been studying each show, this was a magnificent conclusion and for casual viewers who expected a James Bond villian, many were outraged. McGoohan had to go into hiding such was the emotion, but he was delighted with the outcome.

Once Upon A Time | The Prisoner Review.

This episode was written and directed by Patrick McGoohan. Filmed much earlier in the series, this show was intended to be a lead-in to Fall Out. McGoohan's script emulates Shakespeare's play, 'As You Like It' as Number 2 commits to 'Degree Absolute', the final test to break Number 6.

A Change Of Mind | The Prisoner Review

The original tv script deals with enforced confessions from errant villagers, something akin to the McCarthy trials or totalitarian states. Number 6 is forced to undergo a medical procedure that will rob him of his personality, although all is not what it seems. McGoohan once again took over direction.

It's Your Funeral | The Prisoner Review

This episode of The Prisoner saw some real-life drama when McGoohan sacked the director, with two of the supporting cast, taking a firm dislike to the leading man. The story involves a plot to take out the retiring Number 2, by using the villagers as pawns in their game. Number 6 is cajoled into stopping the plot.
