A bowl that doesn’t hold tea. It holds time.
This piece was thrown in the British studio pottery tradition, but shaped like a Japanese chawan. Black glaze flows like lacquer over warm clay, dimpled by fire, pooled in darkness.
At first glance: a small, handmade bowl.
But this is a tool for stopping time.
⸻
A Ritual for the Rushed:
Each morning (or in the thick of your day), try this:
1. Place the bowl where you can see it — desk, kitchen, bedside.
2. When your brain starts skipping like a scratched record, pause.
3. Rest your gaze in the glaze.
4. Trace its lip with your breath.
5. Don’t fix. Don’t solve. Just notice.
It’s not meditation. It’s returning.
⸻
The idea?
That stillness doesn’t require incense, apps, or silence.
Just one thing.
One object.
One moment of being with what is.
This pot doesn’t need you to perform.
It just needs you to pause.
