Nearly one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.*
It is a startling statistic and one that Cancer Research UK is working to improve through its More Research, Less Cancer philanthropy campaign.
The campaign aims to raise £400 million by 2028 to accelerate groundbreaking cancer treatments and diagnostics. To date, Cancer Research UK has raised over half the funds, with £229 million donated by high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts and foundations.
Cancer Research Horizons is a non-profit, entrepreneurial subsidiary of Cancer Research UK backing start-ups with promising ideas to fast-track scientific breakthroughs into patient benefit. Cancer Research UK has already committed £15 million to Cancer Research Horizons’ Seed Fund and now the More Research, Less Cancer philanthropy campaign aims to double the firepower of this Seed Fund to £30 million.
A recent £10 million donation from the Garfield Weston Foundation is helping Cancer Research Horizons translate discoveries from the lab to the clinic.
The Cancer Impact Club is bringing together 50 leaders from private equity, venture capital, and entrepreneurship to raise the remaining £5 million.
With 13 members already on board, the club offers a unique opportunity to invest in life-saving research while engaging with world-class scientists and innovators.
