Two members of Anthony Joshua’s team have died following a car accident involving the heavyweight boxer in Nigeria. Joshua was seated in the back of an SUV, part of a two-vehicle convoy, when it crashed into a stationary truck on a highway. He sustained only minor injuries.

The victims were Abdul Latif, Joshua’s close friend and personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach. Following the tragic news, tributes and condolences have poured in from around the world and the boxing community. Many have paid special tribute to Abdul Latif, a Muslim convert, remembering him for his strong character and deep faith.

Despite no concrete outcomes on Gaza from Monday’s Trump and Netanyahu meeting, Trump emerged with a symbolic win. Netanyahu announced he will award Trump Israel’s highest cultural honour, the Israel Prize, citing his contributions to Israel and the Jewish people. It is the first time the prize has gone to a non Israeli. Trump, in turn, praised Netanyahu as a top level wartime leader, saying Israel would not exist under weaker leadership. The meeting took place as the Trump backed Gaza ceasefire, in effect since 10 October, remains stalled pending Hamas’s disarmament.

Syria announced it will begin exchanging old banknotes for a new national currency starting Jan. 1, 2026, calling it the start of a new economic and monetary phase. Central Bank Governor Abdel Qader al-Hasriya said a presidential decree has authorised the issuance of the new currency and empowered the central bank to manage the exchange process. He added that full details, including timelines and exchange centers, will be announced at a news conference on Sunday. The new currency will be issued in six denominations without images or symbols.

Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi announced the cancellation of the joint defence agreement with the UAE, calling on Emirati forces to leave Yemen within 24 hours.

Al-Alimi urged all parties to halt unauthorised military movements to prevent bloodshed, called on Southern Transitional Council representatives to withdraw from Hadramawt and Al-Mahrah, and reaffirmed Yemen’s appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s role in de-escalation and support for the Yemeni people.
