MY JAPA STORY- Why I Decided to Japa🇬🇧
For me, leaving Nigeria wasn’t just about chasing “greener pastures.” It was about finding peace, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
Living with albinism in Nigeria came with so much stigma and misunderstanding. There were days I felt invisible, and other days I wished I was. I remember one particular job interview — I walked out of that room questioning my entire existence. That day, I knew something had to change. I couldn’t keep fighting to prove my worth in a place that refused to see it.
Should we even talk about healthcare? 😮💨 Because that one alone deserves its own chapter!
And now they say, “come back home.” But come back to what, exactly? To the same bullying, stigma, and system that made me leave in the first place? No, not me oh.
I’ll rather stay and build a life — a real home — where my children can grow up feeling safe, loved, and secure about their future. A place where they won’t have to explain their worth before being treated with respect.
Leaving was hard, but peace of mind? That one is priceless. 💛
Why would you decide to japa or why did you japa 😊
