Deliberate PR

Deliberate PR News Consultancy/PR Agency with a Digital twist. Making tech concepts make the news; loving Scandinavian + US start-ups and clever British brands.

Deliberate makes clever Nordic, US, and European startups and concepts make the news: showcasing to potential investors, strategic partners, employees, and users just what makes these companies unique and scalable. We know that 99% of traditional PR is pointless. Instead, we focus on delivering what startups actually need, deserve, and can leverage as part of their journey from early-stage and see

d-funded to unicorn status. Therefore, you won’t find us staging silly stunts, lame photo opportunities, banal opinion polls and surveys, nor ever insulting the intelligence of journalists. We turn breaking news themes to the advantage of our clients, as well as devise creative strategies that make a startup’s functionality, founders, or existing user base become the news story. We then use this momentum to secure profiles of key staff, product reviews, and guarantee a presence at conferences and events. With a 20-strong team operating between the UK and US and securing high-impact exposure within international business, technology, and consumer media titles, Deliberate offers centralized news and media support for B2C and B2B startups with interesting stories to tell. Our news-infused approach allows Scandinavian, German and other European startups to turn the UK into a gateway to the wider English-speaking world, and then launch in the US. We also provide support to leading US startups domestically, as well as help them cross the Atlantic. Swedish clients (past/present) include: Tictail, Toca Boca, Lifesum, FishBrain, Northzone, Dreams, Acast, Exeger, Remente, X Shore, FirstVet, Soundtrack Your Brand, STING, Bokio, ClimateView, Karma, Mentimeter, War On Cancer

Norwegian clients: No Isolation, Whereby, Motitech, Urban Sharing, Promon, inzpire.me, SafetyWing, Wastefront

German clients: Babbel, Clue, Blinkist, Holiday Pirates

Finnish clients: Next Games, PlayRaven, HappyOrNot

US clients: Handy, Quizlet, Skillshare, Trov

One of the many joys of working for and is the speed at which key team members can be deployed to provide a cogent response to a relevant news story or theme.

In such a spirit, Deliberate PR helped arrange for Nina Siemiatkowski, founder of -based environmental impact platform, Milkywire, to pen an opinion piece in global news authority, Newsweek, on how decarbonization alone does not present a panacea for climate challenges. In her extensive article, which outlines the role that individual businesses must play, Nina also references fellow Deliberate PR nonprofit client ( -based) Compensate’s 2021 report on the flaws within current carbon credit schemes - https://lnkd.in/eWAbNWiQ

Milkywire is a startup which, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, provides a smarter and more efficient solution to donating. The Milkywire platform enables individuals and businesses to easily discover, follow, and fund vetted impact organisations around the world that are working to fight the climate, biodiversity, and pollution crises.

Collective action is vital if we want to see our natural world continue to thrive.

Måns Ulvestam and Karl Rosander reinvented a sector by creating podcasting platform, Acast, and Deliberate PR was instrumental at the time in helping bring their innovation to the attention of the UK and US media.

Now the dynamic are back and ahead of the curve once more with their latest , Sesamy. Backed by GP Bullhound and Edastra AB, Sesamy is re-democratizing access to copyrighted, digital content by providing single purchases and frictionless consumption models. Deliberate PR is providing support once again, and proud to have helped land this interview for the visionary entrepreneurs in arbiter-of-all-that-is-cool, Monocle.

Since its acquisition by Stockholm's Pet Media Group (PMG), Pets4Homes has further confirmed its position as sector top dog, being the UK’s largest online marketplace for rehoming animals. Part of Deliberate PR's work involves emphasising the platform's position as an authority on the safe rehoming of animals, as well as using its data to act as a barometer for the British pet sector.

A case in point is our helping secure exposure across every UK news title for the latest Pets4Homes report on trends which reveals that the pandemic-linked demand for pets has peaked. Here’s how the world’s most visited English-language newspaper website interpreted the data (with contextualising quotes from Pets4Homes UK MD, Lee Gibson). Woof voff.

The best and centralise previously fragmented or unobtainable data points, which can then be used to generate meaningful and topical news stories.

Deliberate PR is proud to have helped push the right buttons and helped land this travel-themed news story on behalf of the clever Finns at HappyOrNot Ltd., the (Verdane and Northzone-backed) creators of the ubiquitous 'smiley' terminals found in airports and retail spaces across the world. The Tampere-based data-crunchers at the world's most recognisable tool for gauging customer satisfaction analyzed more than 4.5 million customer feedback points from airports in 30 countries, in order to work out when travellers are at their happiest (or otherwise). With the results featured in media across the planet, here’s how the UK's The Sun interpreted the news (with contextualising quotes from Miika Mäkitalo, CEO of HappyOrNot) - https://lnkd.in/ey-wKmVr

By founding podcasting platform Acast, Karl Rosander and Måns Ulvestam were proven to be ahead of the curve. Now, with their latest venture Sesamy, which is re-democratizing access to copyrighted, digital content by providing single purchases and frictionless consumption, the Stockholm-based entrepreneurs once again have a business model proving prescient.

In response to the announcement that Netflix subscriber numbers had taken a hit, and the UK government was bringing in measures to make it easier for consumers to escape “subscription traps”, Deliberate PR approached UK and international media to present (GP Bullhound and Edastra-backed) Sesamy as a natural solution to rising consumer alienation with, and changing demand for, existing subscription models. A highlight was wise words from Mans and Karl (including a reference to Renaissance art) featuring in The Guardian's analysis of the week's big streaming story.

Nordic startups are a joy because they benefit from compelling founders offering intriguing, newsworthy creation stories which frame the core mission (and problems that they solve).

Proving this rule is Nina Siemiatkowski, founder of Stockholm-based cause-driven donation platform, Milkywire. Deliberate PR is proud to have helped provide an appropriate platform for Nina to share her personal story and business vision through an interview in leading UK news outlet, The Times (The Times and The Sunday Times).

Beyond outlining how Nina met husband Seb (founder of Klarna) at Stockholm School of Economics, the in-depth interview covers how the Milkywire platform enables individuals and businesses to easily discover, follow, and fund vetted nonprofit organisations around the world that are working to fight the climate, biodiversity, and pollution crises. Beneficiaries of the platform referenced include Blue Marine Foundation, Miti Alliance, and Marine Megafauna Foundation.

The quantification of a problem that a startup fixes is often as newsworthy as the solution it provides. In such a spirit, on behalf of Milkywire, the Stockholm-based donation platform enabling transparent support for grassroots causes, Deliberate PR helped coordinate a major study on the motivations and justifications held by Britons who choose not to support charities.

The findings of the study, which reveal a growing cynicism towards how established charities deploy funds, were featured in leading UK financial news source, City AM, with Nina Siemiatkowski, founder of Milkywire, providing comment. Insights also came from Alice Enders of market analysts, Enders Analysis.
