I’ve heard a lot of Amanah Shafinaz hype for a long time, but only over the summer did I actually properly listen. When I did, I was full of regret. I asked myself “why didn’t I listen sooner?” Believe the hype.

Soulful, bold, emotional, empowered, freeing. That’s the music I heard, and so I had to find out more on my latest SWU.FM show.

In our interview, we learn about her journey to being a full time artist, why having a manager is valuable, and break down the stigma behind ghostwriting.

“Not everyone’s gonna be Beyoncé!”

is the antithesis of the mainstream route. Fully independent, Strats has built a successful career that’s enabled him to travel over the world to perform his art. Something he believes saved him.

As a way to give back, he recently launched .magazine, a label, talent agency, academy and magazine. The goal is to support young people towards achieving their creative ambitions, whether that’s being a world famous pop icon or an underground DJ.

I’m very grateful to for bringing me and Strategy together at for this one - I’ve been a big fan for years so it really was an honour!

Somethings can’t be rushed 🐌

I’ve known since I first moved to Bristol many moons ago, initially connecting to record grime tracks that never saw the light of day.

Since then, we’ve both changed paths, taken breaks and grown into the people we always promised each other we would become. It therefore felt right that I finally interview him.

We talked about his first forays into music, the Bristol hiphop scene and his journey to sobriety. We also discussed his LP ‘Achilles Heal’, a vinyl copy of which he brought along to play.

Q1 status report: 👌🎤🕺🏻🫂🐈🐌

Felt a bit creatively lost this last few months. Was feeling quite overwhelmed before Chrimbo and allowed myself to take some time to reprioritise.

I’ve been working hard at the day job. I’ve got a bit more responsibility now, I’m feeling challenged in a good way and learning a lot of new skills.

Outside of work, I’ve been make an effort to spend more time socialising and do more movement. Focusing on being more present in the real world rather than the sacrificing that to stay present in the digital one.

I’ve been making quite a bit of music again. Still undecided on what to do with it all, but I’ve been getting the enjoyment from the act of making rather than doing it for the purpose of a result.

If I’m honest, I’ve had no desire to do any interviews or produce any content outside of my radio show. Not locked in, you could say. Being kinder to myself, I’d say.

I haven’t really come to any conclusions yet but I do know it’s time to get back to business. New bits coming this week!
