Down & Out in Paris & London Part 2 - the sadistic Carnal Desires of "Bistro Charlie"

Back by popular demand! viewers enjoyed part 1 so much, they have requested a continuation - and here we have it!
In this episode we meet Charlie in the bistro, if we were to judge by appearances, Charlie with his childlike face and friendly banter, would would appear just like another harmless & jovial eccentric in the backstreets of Paris, but as Charlie is determined to relate his experience of 'amour', we realise that his 'interior' is the exact opposite to his 'exterior'.
These are George Orwell's true experiences in Paris in the 1920s. I combine my narration with atmospheric images so you can travel back in time!

Determined to escape suspicion, they carefully shifted the blame onto the victim’s lover, and for a time, their deception appeared to have succeeded.

But then Inspector Gennat took up the case.

One of the Colony Room's very few rules was that art could not be discussed there under any circumstances.
There's nothing more boring if you're an artist than hearing another sozzled "peintre" droning on about their soul inspired daubings. Membership, which could be granted or revoked on the spot, was predicated on the capacity to tolerate Belcher's trademark combination of high camp and extreme viciousness:
men of late middle age were referred to using the feminine pronoun (as in "She's not a very pretty lady, is she?") and "cunty" was deployed as a term of endearment.
These verbal cannon balls acted as both a deterrent for the respectable and a signal that ordinary social mores did not apply.

In the early 1960s the dark alleyways of Sydney could be dangerous places to wander alone... That's right my friends dangerous indeed, because on the loose was a deranged killer, whose mind was so twisted that he could only achieve sexual gratification upon the violent death of the victim and the removal of their ge****ls. These he would take home as a souvenir, and what he did with them during the late night hours does not bear thinking about!
Join me this weekend for a journey back to the 1960s, where men ‘caught short’ were too terrified to go into the public conveniences, who knows what or who lurked there...

Bonnie & Clyde - The Real Story (Part One)

This time we’re looking at one of the most famous criminal partnerships in history… Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.

Their names have become part of folklore. Films have been made about them, songs have been written, and over the decades the line between history and legend has become increasingly blurred.

As always, my aim isn’t to sensationalise events or tell anyone what they should think. It’s simply to look at the facts as we know them and to remember that behind every famous name was a real human being.

It’s easy to reduce people to headlines or photographs taken at the worst moments of their lives. It’s much harder to imagine them before any of that happened… when they were simply young people with hopes, dreams, fears, and futures that could have unfolded very differently.

Whether you ultimately see Bonnie and Clyde as ruthless criminals, tragic figures, or something in between, I’ll leave entirely to you.

What I hope this documentary does is encourage us to look beyond the legend for a little while, because history is rarely made up of monsters or saints. More often, it’s made up of ordinary people whose choices, circumstances and personalities collide in extraordinary ways.

So, make yourself comfortable, and let’s step back to Depression-era America to explore one of the most enduring stories of the twentieth century.
