Everyone knows London, but these are the destinations that made me fall in love with the UK all over again.

📍Northumberland – ancient castles, endless beaches, and landscapes that feel completely untouched.

📍Durham – home to a magnificent cathedral, a historic castle, and streets packed with centuries of history.

🖤 In 1890, Bram Stoker visited the seaside town of Whitby in North Yorkshire and became fascinated by the dramatic ruins of Whitby Abbey. That visit would later inspire key scenes in his famous novel, Dracula 🦇🌊

Climb the 199 steps to the abbey and you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking coastal views, sea mist rolling in from the North Sea, and the haunting beauty of the Gothic ruins above. 🌅⛪

It’s easy to see why Whitby captured Stoker’s imagination. With its historic harbour, dramatic cliffs, and mysterious atmosphere, Whitby feels unlike any other English seaside town. Sometimes the most beautiful places also have the darkest stories. 🖤✨

Staithes is a charming fishing village filled with colourful cottages, narrow cobbled streets, and dramatic coastal views. Once home to Captain James Cook, it’s the kind of place where you can spend hours simply wandering and taking in the scenery.

If you’re visiting, don’t miss:
✨ Exploring the historic harbour
🥾 Walking part of the Cleveland Way coastal path
☕ Stopping at one of the cosy cafés overlooking the sea
📸 Photographing the iconic view of the village from the clifftops

It’s also a perfect weekend escape from London, reachable in around 4–5 hours by car or train.

While you’re in the area, make time for nearby gems like Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby, Sandsend, Runswick Bay, and Saltburn-by-the-Sea. Together they make one of the most beautiful coastal road trips in England. 🇬🇧

I’ve visited Durdle Door quite a few times and hiked the coastline more times than I can count, but this was my first time seeing it from the water—and honestly, it gave me a whole new appreciation for this iconic spot.

The boat trip from Lulworth Cove was such a fun experience. The sea was a little choppy, which only added to the adventure, and our skipper was fantastic, sharing lots of interesting facts about the coastline along the way.

One thing I learned? Some people say Durdle Door looks like an elephant’s trunk dipping into the sea, while others think it resembles a dinosaur. Either way, seeing it up close from the water was incredible.

If you’re visiting the Jurassic Coast, don’t just do the hike—take the boat trip too. You get a completely different perspective, and it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. ✨

One of the highlights of my trip to the Jurassic Coast was taking a boat trip from Lulworth Cove around Durdle Door. Seeing this iconic natural arch from the water gives you a completely different perspective—getting up close to the cliffs, the turquoise sea, and the dramatic coastline was something special.

If you’re visiting this part of Dorset, I’d definitely recommend adding the boat trip to your itinerary. It’s one of the best ways to experience the beauty of Durdle Door beyond the famous cliff-top viewpoints. ✨

Windsor might be a small town, but it packs a lot into a day 👑✨

Start with a visit to Windsor Castle, and if you’re visiting on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday, don’t miss the Changing of the Guard — one of the most iconic things to see in Windsor 🎺💂‍♂️

Then grab breakfast at The Ivy, stop for a coffee at The Shambles, and enjoy lunch at Sebastian’s Italian. After that, take a stroll along the Long Walk and keep an eye on the right-hand side — if you’re visiting before 5pm, there’s a good chance you’ll spot the deer roaming freely 🦌

To make the most of your trip, pair Windsor with nearby Eton and the riverside. Rent a boat and cruise along the River Thames for a completely different perspective of the town. The views of Windsor Castle from the water are absolutely stunning and one of the best photo spots in the area 🚤🏰
