Boundaries aren’t about punishment. They’re about recognising that not everyone should have unlimited access to your peace.

Sometimes distance doesn’t change your value.

It reveals it. 💜

Recently, I nearly let self doubt talk me out of a room I deserved to be in...

Sometimes the hardest part of saying yes is not the event itself. It’s everything that happens inside you before you get there.
The overthinking.
The self doubt.
The fear that you are not qualified enough, polished enough, confident enough, or somehow not the “right” person for the room.

I was honoured to be invited to Jessica May’s Bloom Event. I was grateful. I was excited. But I also had to face the question underneath it all:

“Can I still show up with courage when I feel out of place?”

I looked at the people I was going to be on a panel with:
Their influence.
Their confidence.
Their success.

And then there was me, trying to convince myself I belonged there too. The answer was not instant confidence. The answer was movement:
One step at a time.
One train at a time.
One conversation at a time.
One decision to not let fear have the final vote.

That is often how courage works. Sometimes it is trusting that your story still carries value, even when it feels different.

What I found at The Bloom Event was honesty, resilience, humour, vulnerability, and people using lived experience to make others feel less alone.

It reminded me of something important:
Your story does not need to be identical to someone else’s to connect with them. It just needs to be honest. Presence over performance.

Afterwards, I connected with amazing people and was moved by the stories and challenges they have been courageously moving through.

So let this be our reminder; meaningful impact is not always about perfect words. Sometimes it is being present enough to listen, honest enough to share, and humble enough to connect.

That just so happens to be the essence of the Go In Courage Podcast.

Absolutely, here’s a caption in your reflective Go In Courage tone:

Self doubt doesn’t disappear just because you’re disciplined.

Sometimes the courageous thing is not waiting for the negative voice to go quiet.

It’s learning how to keep moving while it’s still talking.

The voice that says, “You’ll look stupid.”
The voice that says, “Who do you think you are?”
The voice that says, “What if they criticise you?”

It may still show up.

But growth is learning to ask better questions.

Is there truth in this?
Is this helpful?
Can I learn from it?
Or is this just someone else’s fear speaking loudly?

Not every criticism needs to derail you.
Some feedback can refine you.
Some comments can be released.
Some moments simply invite you to set a boundary and keep going.

Courage is not the absence of self doubt.

Sometimes courage is pressing send while the doubt is still shouting.

Your circumstances do not define your ceiling, courage does.

makes such an important point here.

So many of us think discipline means the self doubt disappears.

That if we were truly confident, truly motivated, truly ready, then the negative voice would finally go quiet.

But Alex reminds us that courage often looks very different.

Sometimes that voice is still there.

Still questioning you.
Still mocking you.
Still telling you that you might look foolish for putting yourself forward.

The difference is not that the voice disappears.

The difference is that you learn how to keep moving while it speaks.

You learn to soothe it without obeying it.

You learn to become more deliberate than the doubt.

And maybe that is what real discipline looks like.

Not waiting until you feel fearless.

But pressing send anyway.

Not waiting until you feel ready.

But choosing the next courageous step in spite of the noise.

Such a powerful reminder from Alex that the people who are growing, creating, healing and building are not necessarily free from self doubt.

They have just learned not to let it lead.

Sometimes healing looks like killing your ego and realising you no longer need to compete with other people’s light.

You can celebrate them.
Lift them.
Encourage them.
Push them forward.

That kind of growth takes courage.

Because one of the hardest parts of healing is not just recognising how we were hurt, but recognising how our hurt may have affected others too.

This moment from my conversation with Alex really stayed with me.

What looks like “just an event” from the outside is often something far deeper on the inside.

A full circle moment.
A sign of growth.
A reminder that when we stop trying to dim other people’s light, we finally make room for everyone to rise.

Including ourselves.

This week on the podcast, Gabe Cohen shared his journey from homelessness and incarceration to becoming a peer recovery advocate - a story of resilience, hope, and the courage to begin again.

Listening to Gabe talk about sanctuary, made me pause and ask myself:
💭 What does sanctuary look like for me and am I brave enough to step into it?

Sanctuary isn’t just a safe place.
It’s a space where your heart can breathe.
Where your story is met with open hands instead of closed judgment.
Where you are not just safe - you are seen.

But here’s the thing…
Sanctuary often asks us to risk vulnerability.
To choose connection over isolation.
To trust the arms that reach out, even when fear tells us to pull away.

✨ Courageous reflection prompts:

1. Where do you feel most held—not just safe, but truly known?
2. What small step could you take today to move toward that place of belonging?
3. Before you scroll on, take a moment to ask yourself:
4. Am I willing to let myself be held here? Now? By the people who want to see me whole?

Peter & Judas: Same failure, different response.

In this clip, Rix reflects on how both men betrayed Jesus - but handled guilt and shame in very different ways. Judas isolated and spiralled into despair. Peter turned toward his community, received grace, and stepped back into his calling. Sometimes redemption begins with who you reach out to.

Takeaways:
• Shame isolates; community heals.
• Confession opens doors to restoration.
• Failure isn’t final - your response is.

Question for you:
When shame hits, who do you turn to - and what’s one step toward connection you can take today?
