Man charged following stabbing of police officer
A man will appear in court this morning following the stabbing of a police officer on Tuesday.

Charles Charalambous, 56 (24.11.69) of Claremont Road, Cockfosters was charged overnight with wounding with intent to cause GBH to resist arrest.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The charge relates to an incident in the early hours of Tuesday, 29 September when a Met officer who was executing a warrant in Cockfosters, as part of a wider operation targeting a suspected organised crime group, was stabbed in the leg.

He was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

Two other men arrested as part of the same wider operation have also been charged overnight and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Carl Robinson, 49 (25.06.77) of Stanford Rivers, Essex was charged with possession of offensive weapons in a private place, namely three knives.

Bradley Byford, 37 (30.07.89) of Spellbrook Lane East, Bishop’s Stortford was charged with possession of a weapon to discharge a noxious thing, namely electricity.

All three men remain under investigation as part of the wider investigation and have been bailed for those offences.

A total of 18 people were arrested as part of Tuesday’s operation - 17 were arrested in the morning followed by one further arrest later in the day. The offences for which they were arrested are complex in nature and require extensive investigative work and the detailed examination of evidence both before and after the arrest stage.

All have been bailed while the investigation continues.

A popular pub in east London is under threat from a new development.

The Lord Napier Star in Hackney Wick has claimed that new homes are planned to be built right next door to the establishment, which could threaten their late license.

The proposed homes would have balconies which overlook the pub’s backyard, looking straight down into the pub garden where people gather until 1.30am.

The pub claims that the developer’s noise report skipped the pub garden completely, and took place on a quiet weekday as opposed to a busy weekend.

The venue fears that any noise complaints made when people have moved into the homes could spark a license review and put the pub’s late nights at risk.

They have called for the public to contact Tower Hamlets council in a bid to prevent the development from moving forward.

St. Dunstan's Drug dealing / Drug use Message

Here’s a quick update on drugs dealing crime in your area, please be reassured that we’re taking this seriously and are here to help.

Grand Union Place
St Dunstan SNT officers recently conducted a joint operation with THEO officers and a drugs detection dog, targeting known hotspots for drug dealing and anti-social behaviour across the ward. During patrols of Grand Union Place, officers discovered a concealed stash containing a significant quantity of Class B drugs hidden behind benches near the canal. The drugs were seized and removed from the location . Officers will conduct similar type of joint operation on regular basis.

Sandalwood Close
In a separate proactive operation, plain-clothes officers identified a suspicious vehicle parked near Sandalwood Close, E1. Following a search, officers recovered drugs, a baseball bat, and a mobile phone believed to be linked to drug supply activity. Two males were arrested on suspicion of offences including possession of drugs, possession of an offensive weapon, and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
These results demonstrate our continued commitment to tackling drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour in the area. St Dunstan SNT will continue to carry out regular patrols, targeted operations, and partnership work to keep our neighbourhoods safe and improve the quality of life for local residents.
Drug dealing is often linked with violent crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people, and discarded drug equipment can be a health risk and counts as antisocial behaviour.

We’ve put hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals.

We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. It forms a key part of our recently published ASB Action Plan. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.
