Floggit’s, a radio series starring Elsie and Doris Waters, was first broadcast on the BBC Light Programme 70 years ago today. Written by Terry Nation, John Junkin and Dave Freeman, the series marked the radio debut of Ronnie Barker who was part of a supporting cast that included Joan Sims, Ron Moody, Hugh Paddick and Anthony Newley.

The actress and dancer Una Stubbs died five years ago today. Best known for roles such as Aunt Sally in Worzel Gummidge, Mrs Hudson in Sherlock, Rita in Till Death Us Do Part and In Sickness and in Health, and Sandy in Summer Holiday, the Give Us a Clue captain was a great-granddaughter of Sir Ebenezer Howard, founder of the garden city movement.
