📍 Radcliffe Camera – Oxford, England 🇬🇧

Standing proudly in the heart of Oxford since 1749, the Radcliffe Camera was built as a scientific library using a bequest from Dr. John Radcliffe (1652–1714), one of England’s most renowned physicians. Designed by architect James Gibbs, its magnificent circular dome is one of the finest examples of Palladian and English Baroque architecture.

The name Camera comes from the Latin word for “room” or “chamber”—not a photographic camera. Today, the building is part of the Bodleian Libraries, one of the oldest libraries in Europe, serving students and researchers from around the world.

Surrounded by historic colleges and cobbled streets, the Radcliffe Camera has become an iconic symbol of Oxford, representing more than 900 years of academic excellence and intellectual discovery.
