The Waltham Forest Greens have chosen Paul Perkins and Eva Tabbasam as their leader and deputy leader on a rotating basis.

The two councillors were elected by the other 29 councillors in their group by a secret ballot this week, they are due to be formally appointed council leaders next week.

🎪 An NHS GP, a senior council official, circus artists, a designer and university lecturers are all professions represented in Waltham Forest’s new Green Party councillors.

The group of 31 councillors, all new to local politics, took just enough seats to control Waltham Forest Council in last week’s elections.

The new group of Green councillors come from a range of professions from the arts, to business and health

Developer given a 15% discount on affordable housing now says it can't afford any affordable, and won't build unless Waltham Forest changes the deal

A developer is asking Waltham Forest Council to cut the affordable homes in a 213 flat from 20% to zero due to high “build costs”.

Waltham Forest Council wants to build more than 5,500 homes in towers up to 30 storeys tall in Leyton, and its final consultation on the plans ends in a week.

The council is in the last round of consultation on its Leyton Mills Supplementary Planning Document – covering land between Leyton Mills Retail Park and the City of London-owned New Spitalfields Market.

When approved, this document will guide what developers can likely build in full planning applications, which are rarely refused by Waltham Forest Council.
