Since President Mahama if 🇬🇭 proposed a resolution at the UN declaring that the Enslavement of Afrikan People a "A crime Against Humanity", Western Empire (and their Black subjects), have attempted to push a narrative that lampoon's the entire people of 🇬🇭 as people who "Sold other their own into slavery". In this narrative, Afrika becomes one big slave market, and those who are there, the descendants of "sellers".
This narrative is not only unintelligent - it negates the fact that Afrikans on the continent resisted enslavement in many ways. Baba Jerry of the in 🇬🇭, tells the story of APOKA KARIYAANE, of the Bukere Community in Bolgatanga (northern 🇬🇭). Her resistance inspired the people so much, they have preserved the story for generations. She is a local hero to this day.
It is our duty to do our Ancestors justice by telling the whole story. We must remember that our ancestors are human beings. That those of us who were stolen, left behind families, communities, Nations - who had to deal with the devastation & trauma of their sons & daughters being ripped away.
We don't have to hide anything. Every form of oppression in history has featured collaborators from among the oppressed group. Where traitors who collaborated with Europeans exist, we simply put it in context and make their example repugnant to our sensibilities. Tell the whole story.
And as much as there were those who collaborated with the European invaders of that time, there are those who collaborate with them today, by pushing their narratives! Let's give them the Apoka Kariyaane treatment... Intellectually of course! ✊🏿🔴⚫🟢
