My 8-year-old daughter stood up in a packed assembly this week to receive her piano certificate.
She said she felt a bit nervous at first - but also quite comfortable being in front of the whole school.
Quietly confident.
Kind, thoughtful, gentle…
A sociable introvert.
A bit like me, really.
And it got me thinking…
Being a powerful speaker isn’t about being loud or brash.
It’s about connecting.
It’s about delivering your message - clearly and confidently - so your audience (big or small) is interested, curious and engaged.
When I say “delivering your message,” I don’t just mean standing on a big stage.
You’re presenting yourself all the time:
🎙️ At networking events
📹 On video or on live socials
💻 During Zoom calls or webinars
🎧 Even on podcasts
In today’s world, so much happens online.
Which means more opportunity than ever to be seen and heard by the people who need what you offer.
Thanks to my TV production background, I’ve spent years scripting, directing, rehearsing behind and in front of camera, and learning how to speak so people actually listen.
Now I help others do the same.
If you’re a small business owner or in a client-facing role, and you’d love to feel more confident presenting online, I’m running a practical workshop that will give you the tools to show up powerfully.

Have a lovely weekend - I’ll be floating on a paddleboard at the lake later (hopefully not falling in 🏄♀️).
