We attended the launch of Kenangan Luka, the Bahasa Malaysia translation of No Dram of Mercy on 26 July 2025 at .

The book is a memoir of Sybil Kathigasu, a Malayan nurse who treated anti-Japanese guerrillas during WW2, until her captured and brutal imprisonment in 1943. She was awarded the George Medal in 1948, but died months later in Scotland due to injury complications.

It was great listening to the line-up of publishers and writers who were involved in preserving Kathigasu’s legacy throughout the years. The audience enjoyed the readings by the translators in Malay, French, Chinese and Japanese.
