BAD Studios is a collective of electronic music lovers based at a cosy, industry standard studio located in the heart of London’s Shepherd’s Bush. We offer a range of one-to-one DJ’ing and production courses for those who are looking to take their love for music to the next level. Our instructors are passionate, professional DJs and / or producers, who also run their own music labels, podcast stre

ams and organise their own electronic music events within and beyond the UK. Our spacious, professionally equipped studios are the perfect setting for both experienced DJs and those in training to practice and polish up skills, record podcasts and mixes or simply try out the latest equipment. The space and set-up is also suitable for streaming and video recording of your sets. You are welcome to bring up to three friends with you to keep you company.

Holiday Closures: 24th, 25th, 26th December & 1st January.

Aside from these dates, we remain open from 9am to 11pm daily to support your final creative projects of the season.

DJS WITH UPCOMING GIGS, BEWARE. Pioneer DJ's latest CDJ-3000 firmware update (v3.30) is causing a major fault, wiping entire playlists mid-set. This is an industry-wide issue, reported by major artists who arrived to find their music library blank on stage. The problem is a conflict between the old Device Library and the new OneLibrary format on your USBs. IMMEDIATE MITIGATION: Do not rely on existing exports until a fix is released. Proactively ask your promoter/venue which CDJ firmware version they are running before your gig. To play safely, you must either re-export your entire drive using Device Library Plus or carry a USB with the stable v3.20 firmware for emergency downgrades. Pioneer DJ is actively investigating, but for now, protect your set.

Hit a skill plateau on the decks? It happens to every DJ.

But breaking through is about mastering advanced techniques that take your creativity and control to the next level.

Here’s some ideas how to shake things up:

• Experiment with layering tracks beyond basic beatmatching.
• Use effects in new ways to build tension and release.
• Mix in key to keep your sets harmonically smooth.
• Explore New Genres / Tempos. Working with different BPMs forces you to improve phrasing and beatmatching.
• Record your practice sessions to find areas to improve.

The key is to step outside of “comfort mixing.” A plateau is basically your signal to push creativity and technique at the same time.
