Today we’re shining a light on the wonderfully talented book and comic maker, ~ a friend and regular collaborator of PageMasters 📚

Esther’s work is delicate and intentional through her exploration of personal and collective relationships to history, often informed by archival research 💛

St. Monday - a mini comic about work, based around the Saint Monday tradition of absenteeism on a Monday - a tradition that has been common among craft workers since at least the seventeenth century when the workweek ran from Monday to Saturday.

The Loving Huntsman (Part One) - a beautiful comic printed using sunflower and teal inks, based on ‘Lolly Willowes’ (1926) by Sylvia Townsend Warner.

Fond of Old Things - a pocket-sized zine, exploring “how comics might illuminate the process of archival research” through Esther’s current work on the 20th century historian, Hope Emily Allen.

Seized Books - featuring Esther’s illustrations of a selection of the 140 books that were seized from Gay’s the Word bookshop in 1984 alongside thoughtful research.

Antoine will be showing some work and signing copies too.

We printed the covers in Sunflower, Red, Medium Blue and Black inks
The inner pages were digitally printed by in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A New York Art Book Fair diary 💭🍎

1. PageMasters 🤝 Bronze Age 🤝 CAMP! at
2. crowds in the zine tent on the Saturday morning. We were blessed to be sandwiched between sweethearts and
3. Jordan outside our happy place Court Square Diner - the main source of calories for book fair exhibitors
4. Diner with friends 🥰

6. Justin and Jordan’s mid-2000s electronic album cover
7. Karaoke at pizza party with Caitlin .w0rld and . All the British songs had weird polyphonic versions and some of us were too baked to remember the melody to Simply Red Fairground 👀

9. A Bronze Age customer with their Onfim tattoo (a medieval Russian child that scratch his homework into Birch bark)
