Grab a seat. Get some popcorn.
Itās a long caption, but stay with me.
And for the drink, go back in time: put a tea bag in half a bottle of Sprite, refrigerate for an hour or two, pour into a nice glass, add lemon and ice.
Donāt question it.
Now, my story.
I arrived in the United Kingdom just after Covid, when everything was slowly coming back to life.
Funny enough, I couldnāt join everyone right away because I was told I had Covid and had to stay indoors for two weeks. So my first experience of this new life was basically four walls and online classes.
Eventually, I got out.
One of the first places I visited was Buckingham Palace with the friend I was staying with at the time. I remember seeing London and taking it all in, but somehow, it still felt like somewhere I was visiting.
Then, about three years later, I was on a trip with my colleagues when it suddenly hit me:
Iām actually here.
This same London I heard so much about growing up. The same London I once wrote about in a piece I titled Cosmopolitan Thoughts.
Somehow, thoughts became words, words became a journey, and the place I once imagined became part of my everyday reality.
But reality, as usual, came with its own invoice.
There have been sweat and tears.
Days I questioned why I was here, and other days I knew there was nowhere else I would rather be.
This place will test you, stretch you, and sometimes make you wonder whether you and London have personal beef. š
But Iām learning that you are always more than the situation you are currently standing in.
So I keep moving.
Whenever the day looks ugly, I remind myself of all the ugly days I once thought would never end.
They ended.
Some even became stories I can laugh about now.
Maybe thatās one of the beautiful things about life, while youāre living through certain moments, they feel enormous.
Then one day, you look back and realise they were only chapters, not the whole story.
So, whatever chapter this is, Iāll keep going.
Iāve made it through enough yesterdays to have faith in tomorrow.
Todayās Bible verse:
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5
