Prague can feel overwhelming when you first start planning because there’s SO much to see and do.

So after exploring the city ourselves, here’s how we’d structure a 3-day trip 👇

Want our Prague recommendations?

We’ve created a Prague Cheat Sheet with our best tips, practical advice and recommendations to help you plan the trip without spending hours researching.

And as a bonus, you’ll also get FREE access to our Google Maps list with 100+ locations across Prague — including food spots, cafés, viewpoints, landmarks and hidden gems.

Comment RECOMMENDATIONS, and we’ll send you the link 🫶

This itinerary is based on the starting point of our hotel, which was perfectly located between the Old Town and the New Town, so everything was within walking distance! This is the link to the same hotel we stayed in:
https://booking.tpx.gr/p5Cy8wqP

🏰 DAY 1 — Historic Prague

Wenceslas Square → Havel Market → Powder Gate → Old Town Square → Astronomical Clock → Czech food → Jewish Quarter

This is your big sightseeing day, with Prague’s historic centre, Old Town and Jewish Quarter all fitting together easily.

👑 DAY 2 — Prague’s Royal side

Charles Bridge → Prague Castle → St. Vitus Cathedral → Golden Lane → Kuchyň → Nerudova Street → Malá Strana → If you fancy an amazing lunch, book a table at Pork’s Mostecká; the Pork knuckle is insane → Lennon Wall → Kampa Island (try to spot Nutrias)

Start Charles Bridge early before the crowds, then spend a few hours exploring the castle before walking downhill through one of our favourite parts of Prague.

🌿 DAY 3 — The quieter side of Prague

Vyšehrad → Slavín → Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul → riverside walk along Náplavka → Dancing House → National Theatre

This day gives you a completely different feel from the busy historic centre, with viewpoints, local neighbourhoods and a much slower pace.

Ad |👇 KEEP READING because these are the Vienna tips we genuinely wish we’d known before visiting 🇦🇹

📍 If you want to make planning easier, we’ve created our Vienna Cheat Sheet

It includes our best tips, transport advice, booking hacks and practical things to know before you go.

And as a bonus, you also get our FREE Google Maps list with 100+ locations across Vienna, including food spots, cafés, landmarks, viewpoints and more.

Comment CHEAT SHEET, and we’ll send you the link.

Vienna is an incredible city, but there are a few things that aren’t always obvious when you’re planning your first trip.

Here are 5 things that could save you money, time, and unnecessary stress 👇

🍫 Don’t buy Manner from the tourist shops straight away

You’ll see Manner shops all over central Vienna, and they’re definitely tempting.

But before filling your suitcase, check supermarkets like Billa.

We found the exact same Manner wafers for less — and this applies to plenty of other snacks, drinks and souvenirs too.

🎨 Check museum entry rules before paying

If you’re travelling with children or teenagers, this one could save you a lot.

Many major Vienna museums offer free entry to visitors under 19, including places like the Belvedere, Albertina and Natural History Museum. Some museums also have specific free-entry days, so always check the rules before buying tickets, and remember to always carry valid IDs.

🗺️ Don’t over-plan Vienna

There’s so much to see that it’s tempting to fill every hour with palaces, museums and attractions.

But Vienna is a city where leaving some empty space in your itinerary actually makes the trip better.

🇸🇰 Don’t automatically rule Vienna out if it looks expensive

Bratislava is less than an hour away by train, so it can be worth comparing accommodation prices there — especially during busy periods.

🚇 Check whether a transport pass makes more sense

For a multi-day trip, compare the cost of individual tickets with the available passes before you travel.

Ad |👇 KEEP READING before booking the Heathrow Express 🚆🇬🇧

The Heathrow Express is the fastest way to get from Heathrow into central London…

But there’s something we wish we’d known before booking.

Here’s what you need to know 👇

Get the Heathrow Express for less

Many people book directly through the Heathrow Express website, but we actually check Trip.com first.

If you book through the FREE Trip.com app or website, you can earn Trip Coins and unlock exclusive loyalty discounts, which can help bring the price down.

Comment HEATHROW and we’ll send you the link.

🚄 It’s seriously fast
You can get from Heathrow to Paddington in around 15 minutes, with no stops along the way.

💼 It’s convenient with luggage
If you’ve got heavy bags after a long flight, having plenty of space and a direct journey can make a big difference.

💸 But the standard price isn’t cheap
A standard single ticket can be around £25–£30, which is why a lot of people immediately choose the Tube or Elizabeth line instead.

📅 Booking in advance can make a huge difference
If you book early enough, Heathrow Express tickets can sometimes drop to around £10.
That completely changes the value of the journey.

So if you’re flying into London and want the fastest route into the city, don’t automatically write off the Heathrow Express because of the headline price.

Bratislava is one of those European cities that often gets overlooked.

But after visiting, we were genuinely surprised by how much we liked it.

Here’s what actually makes Bratislava worth visiting 👇

🚶 Incredibly easy to explore

The Old Town is compact, most of the main sights are within walking distance, and you can see a lot of the city without constantly relying on public transport.

💸 Much more affordable than its neighbours

Food, drinks and accommodation can cost noticeably less than places like Vienna — which is less than an hour away.

🏰 Much more to do than we expected

You’ve got Bratislava Castle, Devín Castle, quirky statues hidden around the city, the changing of the guard, delicious local food, great viewpoints and plenty more.

👇 KEEP READING before booking a Schönbrunn Palace guided tour 👑🇦🇹

Schönbrunn Palace is one of Vienna’s biggest attractions, but with so many different tour options, we weren’t sure if paying extra for a guided tour would actually be worth it.

After doing this one ourselves… we’d absolutely book it again 👇

ad | 👑 Save 5% on your Schönbrunn Palace tour

We booked through the FREE GetYourGuide app, and we have an exclusive 5% discount code you can use towards this tour or other Vienna experiences. Comment TOUR and we’ll send you the code.

🎟️ The palace ticket is already included

We paid just under €70 per person for the 2.5-hour guided experience, including entry to the palace.

A standard palace ticket alone can cost around €42, so the guided experience was only around €28 extra.

For us, that made it an easy choice.

🧑‍🏫 Our guide made the biggest difference

There are plenty of guided tours available, but our local guide was genuinely excellent.

He knew so much about the Habsburgs and Schönbrunn, but more importantly, he was actually entertaining.

We weren’t just listening to dates and facts — the stories made the palace much more interesting.

🌳 You also get the gardens

The tour covered both the palace and the gardens, which is important because Schönbrunn is much bigger than just the building itself.

Having someone guide us around meant we got a much better understanding of the whole estate without feeling completely overwhelmed.

⏱️ Allow around 3.5 hours

It’s not a quick attraction you squeeze into an hour.

Between the palace interiors, gardens, walking and the history, the guided tour gave us enough time to properly experience Schönbrunn without rushing.

So… would we pay for the guided tour again?

100%.

Especially if you’re interested in the history and want more than just walking through the rooms.

👇 KEEP READING if you’re planning a trip to Vienna 🇦🇹

Vienna has A LOT to see, so if you’re planning your first trip, these are 5 places we’d definitely put on your list 👇

📍 ad| Want to make planning Vienna easier?

We’ve put together our Vienna Cheat Sheet with our best tips, booking hacks and other useful things we wish we’d known before visiting.

And as a bonus, you’ll also get our FREE Google Maps list with 100+ locations across Vienna, including food spots, cafés, landmarks, viewpoints and more. Comment ITINERARY, and we’ll send you the link.

👑 Schönbrunn Palace

One of Vienna’s most famous attractions — and yes, we think it’s worth the hype.

The palace itself is impressive, but don’t underestimate the gardens. You can easily spend hours exploring the grounds and walking up towards the Gloriette.

🏛️ Belvedere Palace

One of our favourite places for beautiful architecture and gardens.

It’s also home to Gustav Klimt’s famous The Kiss, so even if museums aren’t normally your thing, it’s worth adding to your itinerary.

⛪️ St. Stephen’s Cathedral

Right in the centre of Vienna and impossible to miss.

The inside is just as impressive as the exterior, and you can also climb up for some great views over the city.

🥨 Naschmarkt

A great place to explore if you want a break from the main tourist sights.

You’ll find food stalls, restaurants, cafés and plenty of things to try, making it an easy stop to add into your day.

☕️ Snack Pause

One of our favourite food stops from our trip.

We stopped here for breakfast and honestly… it was SO good and extremely affordable.

👇 KEEP READING before visiting Vienna 🇦🇹

Vienna is one of our favourite European cities, but there were a few things we wish we’d known before our first visit.

These mistakes can cost you extra money, waste your time, or make your trip more stressful than it needs to be 👇

ad | 💰 Save money on Vienna experiences
If you’re booking attractions like Schönbrunn Palace, walking tours, concerts, or day trips through the FREE GetYourGuide app, we have an exclusive 5% discount code.

Comment DISCOUNT, and we’ll send you the details.

🚆 Don’t automatically book the CAT airport train
The CAT train is convenient, but it’s also the expensive option.

The S7 city train takes only slightly longer and costs a fraction of the price, making it a much better option for many travellers.

☕ Don’t waste your whole day waiting for Café Sacher
Yes, it’s famous for a reason… but the queues can be huge.

Vienna has so many incredible traditional cafés where you can experience the city’s famous coffee culture without spending hours waiting.

🛒 Don’t assume shops are open on Sundays
Vienna is very different on Sundays.

Most supermarkets, shops, and many businesses close, so make sure you plan ahead and buy anything you need on Saturday.

💧 Don’t buy bottled water everywhere
One of our favourite things about Vienna is the free drinking fountains around the city.

Bring a reusable bottle, and you can refill with fresh Alpine spring water while exploring.

👇 SAVE THIS for your Vienna food list 🇦🇹

Trying traditional Austrian food is one of the best parts of visiting Vienna, but there’s so much more than just schnitzel.

As a bonus, you’ll also get our FREE Google Maps list with 100+ handpicked locations across Vienna, including restaurants, cafés, viewpoints, landmarks and more.

💬 Comment PLANNING and we’ll send it to you.

Here are 5 foods we’d genuinely recommend 👇

🌭 Viennese hot dogs
Probably our biggest surprise. Vienna’s famous sausage stands let you choose from loads of different sausages, but our favourite was the Käsekrainer filled with melted cheese. Even the bread is different, served inside a hollow roll instead of a traditional bun.

🥞 Kaiserschmarrn
A fluffy shredded pancake served with plum compote. It’s much bigger than it looks, so it’s perfect for sharing.

🍖 Wiener Schnitzel
Austria’s most famous dish. Crispy, simple, and a must-try while you’re in Vienna.

🍫 Sachertorte
Vienna’s iconic chocolate cake with apricot jam. The original comes from Hotel Sacher, but there are plenty of fantastic cafés serving their own versions.

🍳 Traditional Viennese breakfast
Fresh Semmel bread rolls, butter, jam, ham, cheese, a soft-boiled egg and a proper Viennese coffee (which we traded for a delicious hot chocolate and orange juice). All of that only cost €9, making it one of the best-value breakfasts we had in the city.

👇 KEEP READING if you’re planning a European city break

Before visiting, we expected Vienna to be beautiful... but we honestly thought it would feel a bit too formal and expensive.

Instead, it ended up becoming one of our favourite city breaks in Europe.

ad| 📍 Planning a trip to Vienna?

We’ve created a Vienna Cheat Sheet to save you hours of research, and it also includes our FREE Google Maps list with 100+ handpicked locations, including: Landmarks, Cafés, Food spots, Viewpoints, Parks… and plenty more.

💬 Comment CHEAT SHEET, and we’ll send it to you.

Here’s why we’d recommend it 👇

🏛️ There’s much more than just palaces
Yes, Schönbrunn Palace and the historic centre are incredible, but Vienna also has traditional cafés, classical concerts, beautiful parks, vineyards within the city, and so many hidden corners to explore.

🚆 Perfect for exploring Central Europe
One of the biggest surprises was how well connected Vienna is. You can visit Bratislava in under an hour, or even take day trips to places like Budapest, Salzburg, and the Wachau Valley.

🍽️ The food scene exceeded our expectations
From traditional Viennese breakfasts and giant schnitzels to surprisingly good hot dogs, there was far more variety than we expected. And if you know where to eat, it doesn’t have to be expensive either.

🚶 Easy to explore
The historic centre is incredibly walkable, public transport is excellent, and getting around feels effortless, making it a perfect city break even if it’s your first time visiting.

👇 KEEP READING before booking the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna 👑🇦🇹

Schönbrunn Palace is one of Vienna’s most famous attractions, but there are a few things we really wish we’d known before visiting.

Here’s what we’d tell anyone planning to visit 👇

ad | 💰 Booking tip
If you’re booking through the FREE GetYourGuide app, there’s an exclusive 5% discount available. Comment PALACE and we’ll send you the details.

🌳 The gardens are completely free
Most people assume you need a ticket to experience Schönbrunn, but while the palace interiors require one, the beautiful gardens can be explored completely free.

🎧 A guided tour is 100% worth it
We nearly booked standard entry, but having a guide completely changed the experience. Learning about the Habsburg family, the palace’s history, and the stories behind each room made it so much more memorable.

⏰ Don’t underestimate how long you’ll need
The estate covers almost 190 hectares. Between the palace, gardens, viewpoints and walking trails, this can easily become a half-day visit.

🏛️ Don’t skip the Gloriette viewpoint
This was our biggest regret. We overplanned our day and didn’t have enough time to walk up, but the views overlooking Schönbrunn Palace and Vienna are some of the best in the city.

Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or simply exploring one of Europe’s most beautiful palace grounds, Schönbrunn is absolutely worth adding to your Vienna itinerary.
