🌱 How can storytelling inspire climate action in one of the world’s most biodiverse nations?

Indonesia’s young people are growing up in cities, often disconnected from the natural world — yet they hold the key to a more sustainable future.

Through TV dramas, online discussions and social media, our projects - Kembali Ke Hutan and AksiKita Indonesia - have reached millions, sparking conversations and inspiring real behaviour change.

Join us at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi to hear how our team used media and storytelling to engage a new generation of Indonesians in climate action:

“Despite knowing the harm, people are still catching fish, cutting trees, and hunting birds in the haor.”

Tanguar Haor is a 160 sq km wetland ecosystem in Sunamganj, Bangladesh and was recognised as a Ramsar Site in 2000.

It is famous for its migratory birds. Each winter, thousands of these birds flock to the area, said journalist Khalil Rahman.

But human activity is thought to be contributing to an alarming decline in migratory bird numbers.

With support from BBC Media Action, Khalil is amplifying the voices of people on the frontlines of climate change and providing people with practical information to aid decision-making.
