Hey, wrestling fans! Gather āround because the ring is getting hot, and the drama is REAL!
Letās take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? For years, WWE reigned supreme, holding the crown like a boss...until the mid-'90s, when WCW waltzed in, challenging them in a way that had fans glued to their TV screens. There was a time when WCW had the upper hand and everyone was screaming, "This is the good stuff! Whereās my nWo shirt?"
However, thanks to some major management blunders (and maybe a few too many missteps), the tides turned back, and WWE snagged that title AGAIN in the early 2000s. They even bought WCW! Yes, the company we loved to hate by the end, became a part of the WWE family. But then...uh oh, things got stale faster than a forgotten sandwich at the back of the fridge. š±
Hello, 2010s! WWE wanted to play it safe and kid-friendly (Thanks PG era! š) and fans were left craving something edgier. TNA ? Great alternative, gave us so many good matches over the years but C'MON, it wasn't really competition, because they could never land a good TV deal or had good management right? We were all muttering as the years went by in WWE, āSeriously? Again with the same old repeated matches and a deluded owner at the helm?ā
Enter Cody Rhodes who had just left the WWE in 2016 like a superhero on a motorcycle, joining forces with the Elite crew ā you know, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Hangman Page. They were like the āAvengersā of the wrestling world, starting a revolution that turned the tide. With hits from āBeing the Eliteā to āAll In,ā they packed arenas and brought new life to the wrestling scene in a way that made our inner wrestling nerd squeal with delight!
And BOOM! All Elite Wrestling (AEW) was born! ā”ļø An explosion of fresh talent, unique styles, and an adrenaline rush that had fans roaring for more! Years of smashing records, stacking up their roster, putting on great PPV after great PPV, They even broke the record at Wembley Stadium! WWE, whoaā¦thatās a Goliath-sized threat!
But waitācue the villain music š¶āWWE is now pulling out all the stops to bury AEW! From teaming up with TNA to booking shows on the same nights, itās like they're throwing a tantrum in the ring! Are we really going to support a company that wants to squash competition? No way, JosĆ©! We love wrestling and want more than just stale popcorn matches!
TKO is all about maximizing profits, they don't care about the fans, already you are seeing this in the hike in ticket prices and costs for meet and greets, having AEW around, who can offer a similar all around experience at a much cheaper price leaves them worried, so they are intent on putting them out of business, so they can have the absolute Monopoly on the wrestling business, not having competition means minimum effort needed for making maximum profits. This is exactly what the WWE did to WCW, so by continuing to support them while they do this will mean in the long run, that we will be back in the same situation, with stale wrestling matches, highly inflated ticket prices under company that doesn't care about the fans etc.
If fans continue to support the WWE in this way when they're making it much more expensive, adding costs here there and everywhere, and also trying to take away the alternative that gives them the kick up the behind they need from time to time, but also gives fans variety too, are they really a company worth investing time and effort in when you know what they are intending to do purely out of greed.
Sound off in the comments.
