Well this is exciting news!

We’re incredibly proud to share that our first feature film, The (First) Last Screenplay, has been shortlisted for the London Independent Film Festival and will have its UK premiere at Genesis Cinema on Friday 2nd October at 9pm.

To celebrate, we’re giving away two pairs of tickets to the screening.

Join our TechnoDolly Training Day, open to all crew on Saturday 1st August at Ealing Studios - DM to Register.

Bring your questions, have a go on the rigs, learn the software, see how we set everything up and pick up the little things you only really learn on set.

We’ll have 2 x TechnoDolly 15s and 1 x TechnoDolly 25 set up, so there’ll be plenty of time to get involved - whether you’ve never touched one before or want a more in-depth look.

No formal timetable, just drop in between 10am and 4pm, stay for as long as you like, and we’ll work through whatever you want to cover.

Food, drinks and parking are all sorted, or 10 minutes walk away from Ealing Broadway Station.

Want to make a hobbit?

Best tool for the job is easily a TechnoDolly. Yes, you can go old school and cheat perspective, but why do that when you have more modern tools at your fingertips?

The TechnoDolly records your manual crane move, then shrinks it for the repeat pass - creating the illusion of forced perspective, but moving and in real time.

A nice day out in Scotland for Outlander: Blood of My Blood last year.

On paper, a TechnoDolly 25 might look like a bit of a pricey option. But on the day, it can be the thing that saves you money.

For this shot, repeatable motion control meant we could clone extras and move them through the scene, building a bigger world without bringing in quite so many people.

Basically a bigger crowd, without the bigger crowd.

Looking forward to watching Season 2.

“We want to crash a bus through a house for Slow Horses.”

Not the sort of stunt you get many chances to repeat… so the solution was to craft the shot with our fully repeatable TechnoDolly.

The actual stunt could happen once, safely, for real, no AI, no VFX.

With the camera move locked and perfectly repeatable, the cast could then be filmed after the set had been made safe. Matching the exact same move without needing to put anyone near the impact itself.
One of those occasions where the TechnoDolly quietly becomes the safety net behind something that looks completely out of control on screen. The attention to detail from the design team on this one was superb, the bathroom sink falling through the wall was our favourite touch.

BTS of our recent shoot with Sarah Jessica Parker for Tanqueray Gin’s ‘There is a No in Every Icon’ campaign.

They did say yes to our TechnoDolly 25 though, which meant they could capture every shot in the entire ad, in two sets from one track position quickly without having to move the TechnoDolly or use multiple cameras.

We prepped the moves ahead of SJP’s arrival, saving each one on the TechnoDolly, so when she came in to film it was all ready to go, making it a swift and smooth few hours on set for everyone.
Just the way we like it.

Why did we make this on a budget?

In Episode 5 of The Making of The (First) Last Screenplay, Tom talks about the decision to strip things back with smaller crew, a relatively unknown cast, and a more nimble way of working.

This was about doing the opposite of our other work, which are VFX-heavy projects with large teams and slower processes.

Most productions today sit somewhere between traditional filmmaking and AI.

For this production, we approached this with real crew, real talent and shot it on an LED volume - then we expanded beyond the frame using AI.

The result was full control on set, faster post, and lower overall cost, with this scene shot and finished within hours.

It’s a practical model for where the industry is heading, and one we use regularly.
