🚨Chilterns Cycleway route diversion🚨

Due to HS2 construction, there is a route diversion in place near Wendover, through Butlers Cross. 🚴‍♀️

The original route via Small Dean Lane will not be accessible for an estimated 16 months (until October 2025).

Diversion signs are not yet in place, but we are urging the contractors to put them up as soon as possible.

Hockney, in his own words, has always been a looker 👀

Throughout his career, David Hockney has found inspiration in the work of other artists. For him, there's magic in it every time, whether that's enjoying a picture in a gallery or a much-loved poster at home.

This summer join us for 'Hockney and Piero: A Longer Look'. This very personal show explores the personal connection between Hockney and the National Gallery through three exceptional paintings created over 500 years apart.

This exhibition, part of our Bicentenary celebrations, is a chance to slow down, to take in what's in front of us and enjoy life-enhancing art at the Gallery.

A desire line appears before you... 👣 📷

Richard Long's artwork, 'A Line Made by Walking', was made on one of Long’s journeys to St Martin’s from his home in Bristol. Between hitchhiking lifts, he stopped in a field in Wiltshire where he walked backwards and forwards until the flattened turf caught the sunlight and became visible as a line. He photographed this work, and recorded his physical interventions within the landscape.

Although this artwork underplays the artist’s physical presence, it anticipates a widespread interest in performative art practice. This piece demonstrates how Long had already found a visual language for his lifelong concerns with impermanence, motion and relativity.
