In 2016 my dad Peter started volunteering at Small Publishers Fair. In his eighties and with a lifelong love of books, London and the arts it was heaven for him to take the train from Norwich and spend a day or so putting out table cloths, welcoming people on the door and chatting with publishers and visitors. The photos are from his office - mementos from the fair. Peter Mitchell, 5 October 1935 to 19 January 2025.

Based in Leira, Portugal, Sal Nunkachov of works with many UK and international small press publishers, writers and artists. It was fabulous to have paper view books at the Fair for the first time this October.

Small Publishers Fair returns to Conway Hall in London's Bloomsbury on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 October. 63 publishers are taking part including 18 new publishers and 11 from overseas. The Fair, exhibition and readings are all FREE to attend. The Fair is open from 11am to 7pm daily.

The card is designed by Colin Sackett of . The photo, which is from last year's Fair, relates to this year's exhibition - CLOD Magazine & Books. It shows the welcome banner CLOD designed for the foyer at (The blurry figure is Dominic Jaekle of who happened to be passing and will be taking part in the Fair again this year!)

Small Publishers Fair celebrates the diversity and strength of UK and World small press publishing. It's an affirmation and a coming together of this vibrant creative community. There are books from publishers at the peak of their careers and there are great young writers and artists just at the start of their lives in making books.

In an essay for Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal, Charles Boyle of wrote "At its best, independent publishing is nimble, inquisitive, resourceful (necessity being the mother of invention), personal, cooperative rather than competitive, passionately engaged and seriously, infectiously fun...".

Small Publishers Fair is one of the best places in the World to experience this!
