We may be being a little dramatic, but this video of Luke Evans covering Bring Him Home from Les Misérables recorded here at Dean St is exactly the song we imagine echoing through every sweltering tube carriage this summer - because let's face it, we're all just dreaming of getting ourselves home, away from the mobile sauna that is London's underground!

Sometimes you need to revisit the classics - both the song and this gorgeous performance from our archives! 🔥

Back when we were Good Earth Studios and under the legendary watch of Tony Visconti, a certain David Bowie popped in to cook up what would become one of his most daring albums — Scary Monsters... and Super Creeps (1980).

In true Bowie fashion, the magic happened fast. During a brisk two-day session, guitar sorcerer Robert Fripp dropped in and ended up playing on seven tracks — including laying down those blazing final takes on a little song you might know... Fashion 💃 That iconic “turn to the left” hook? Dreamt up by Bowie at the eleventh hour. Pure lightning-in-a-bottle stuff.

The sessions didn’t stop there — Visconti brought in friend Lynn Maitland to join him and Bowie on the chorus of Up The Hill Backwards, and Japanese actress Michi Hirota (in town for The King and I) gave us that unforgettable spoken word on It’s No Game (Part 1).

And let’s not forget Andy Clark, synth wizard and all-round sonic colourist, who swung by to add texture to Because You’re Young and Scream Like A Baby.

It was wild. It was wonderful. It was Bowie at Dean Street (née Good Earth).
And we’re still pinching ourselves.
