'Avengers: Doomsday' has already surpassed $50 million in domestic ticket pre-sales more than three months ahead of its December 18 release, signalling enormous early demand for Marvel’s next major event film.

More than 70% of advance sales are for Infinity Vision premium-format screenings, particularly significant as 'Dune: Part Three,' opening the same day, will control IMAX screens during its debut weekend.

The film’s marketing has also generated huge interest, with its July trailer becoming Disney’s most-viewed movie trailer ever and the second-biggest trailer launch in history. The early performance adds to a renewed wave of Marvel momentum following the blockbuster success of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.'

John Mulaney is in early talks to star as Maxwell Smart in a new 'Get Smart' reboot currently in development at Warner Bros. Seth Grahame-Smith ('The Lego Batman Movie,' 'Now You See Me: Now You Don’t') is writing the screenplay, with Charles Roven and Andrew Lazar producing.

The project will reimagine the classic spy-comedy series created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry, which originally starred Don Adams and ran from 1965 to 1970.

'Get Smart' was previously adapted into a 2008 film starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway and Dwayne Johnson, which earned more than $230 million worldwide. Mulaney’s casting is not yet finalized, and the reboot remains in the early stages of development.

Andrew Garfield hopes his new historical drama 'The Uprising' will resonate far beyond its 14th-century setting — and apparently leave the world’s wealthiest people feeling uncomfortable.

During a recent Q&A, the two-time Oscar nominee said he wants Paul Greengrass’ film, which follows his character Ploughman leading a rebellion against King Richard II amid brutal taxation and inequality, to be “galvanizing” and awaken audiences to parallels between the struggles of the past and present.

Garfield went further, saying he hopes any billionaires who see the movie are “scared sh*tless,” later describing them as potentially the “most soul sick” and in need of healing. Greengrass echoed the film’s contemporary relevance, arguing that its message about justice and healing remains as applicable today as it was centuries ago. ' ' hits theaters September 10.

Kane Parsons is officially returning to direct ‘Backrooms 2’ for A24, with an announcement reportedly imminent. The sequel will be Parsons’ next film following the breakout success of ‘Backrooms’, which transformed his viral YouTube analog-horror series into a major theatrical film.

Parsons first uploaded ‘The Backrooms (Found Footage)’ in 2022 at just 16 years old, with the video eventually attracting around 80 million views before the concept was developed into a feature with A24 and Atomic Monster. The filmmaker has previously said the first movie was only the beginning of a much larger story, with future instalments expected to further explore the Backrooms mythology and the mysterious organization Async.

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' continues its remarkable box office run, leading North America for a sixth consecutive weekend with an estimated $22 million over the four-day Labor Day frame. The Sony-Marvel blockbuster has now crossed $900 million domestically — only the second film ever to do so — and is rapidly closing in on 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and its $936 million all-time domestic record.

Globally, the Tom Holland-led film has surpassed $2.33 billion, making it the third-highest-grossing movie ever behind 'Avatar' and 'Avengers: Endgame'.

Lance Oppenheim’s ‘Primetime’ takes one phenomena of 2000s American television and turns it into something resembling a psychological horror film. Premiering at the Venice Film Festival, we revisit the world of ‘To Catch a Predator’, where NBC journalist Chris Hansen confronted men who believed they were arriving to meet underage children. But Oppenheim is more interested in asking what happens when true journalism, inflated ego and entertainment become almost impossible to separate.

Robert Pattinson delivers another wonderfully strange performance in a career increasingly defined by them. His Hansen is polished and authoritative whenever a camera switches on, but beneath the TV-ready composure sits an anxious, vain and increasingly obsessive man (a performance worthy of an Oscar nomination at next year's ceremony).

CATCH UP: Prime Video has canceled ‘Spider-Noir’ after just one season, ending Nicolas Cage’s live-action Marvel series roughly three months after its May debut.

The eight-episode show starred Cage as an aging private investigator and former superhero navigating 1930s New York, alongside Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Jack Huston and Brendan Gleeson. Despite earning 11 Emmy nominations, primarily in technical categories, Amazon has opted not to move forward with a second season. However, the streamer is reportedly continuing to develop other projects based on characters from Sony’s universe of Marvel properties.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ is extending its extraordinary IMAX 70mm run yet again, with additional screenings now scheduled through September 30, taking the film’s premium-format run to 11 weeks.

The blockbuster has already earned more than $1.55 billion worldwide, including a record $457 million from IMAX alone, making it the highest-grossing IMAX release ever, while its limited 70mm IMAX engagements have generated $66 million from just 41 locations globally.

‘The Odyssey’ is also Nolan’s highest-grossing film and the biggest R-rated movie of all time. With the film still earning more than $2 million per day domestically, its IMAX extension keeping premium ticket sales alive and a September 11 launch in Japan still to come, it now looks capable of finishing around $1.65–$1.70 billion worldwide, with roughly $1.7 billion looking achievable if its late legs remain strong.

Tom Hardy is set to return for a third season of Paramount+’s hit crime drama ‘MobLand’ after resolving a behind-the-scenes dispute with executive producer Jez Butterworth, 101 Studios and other members of the production team.

Hardy, who plays fixer Harry Da Souza, had reportedly fallen out with producers following the completion of Season 2 in March, prompting speculation that he would leave the series. However, Hardy and the production team later met in London and worked through their differences, clearing the way for his return.
