More about Silvia:
Silvia Kastel started performing live in 2008 with a main focus on experimental electronic music and extended vocal techniques. Evolving into DJing in 2014, first on radio and then in clubs, and now based in London with a monthly residency on NTS, her sets fuse unashamedly pop melodies with the bass-heavy polyrhythms of regional club sounds from Latin America, the Caribbean, the US and the UK (dembow, dancehall, grime, jungle, techno, footwork).
Now, whether on DJ Stingray’s curated stage at Dimensions Festival, Dekmantel Selectors, Boiler Room in Dehli and Mumbai, All in Shanghai, WWW in Tokyo, Version in Ohm Berlin, or De School in Amsterdam, her reputation precedes her as a diverse and experimental selector, whose singular taste can unite the most disparate of genres, styles and tempos. If Kastel’s music often concerns the difficult relationship between technology and humanity, then the generous attitude of her club sets only serves to unite the latter.
