Some of life’s best conversations happen on a footpath.

There’s something about walking side by side that helps us slow down, open up and connect. Whether it’s sharing stories, making new friends, or simply enjoying the landscape together, walking has a wonderful way of bringing people closer.

That’s one of the reasons we’re so proud to partner with HF Holidays. Since 1913, they’ve been helping people discover the joy of exploring together, building friendships and communities through a shared love of the outdoors.

Their commitment goes even further through the HF Holidays Pathways Fund, which helps remove barriers that can prevent people from experiencing the benefits of spending time in nature. Thanks to the generosity of their members, HF Holidays has funded 100 sets of Waterproofs & Wellies through The Outdoor Guide Foundation, giving more state primary school children the opportunity to get outside, whatever the weather.

As TOG Foundation Ambassador Gemma Hunt says:
“Walking brings people together at every age. That’s why it’s so wonderful to see the HF Holidays Pathways Fund helping more children take those first steps into the outdoors. The adventures, friendships and confidence they build today could stay with them for a lifetime.”

Because the best paths aren’t just the ones we walk, they’re the ones we share. 💚🥾

Go Aiden! We’re all cheering you on 💚

Four years ago, Aiden discovered The Outdoor Guide Foundation at the National Outdoor Expo and was inspired by our mission to help every primary school child access the outdoors, whatever the weather.

Since then, he’s become a brilliant Youth Ambassador for our Waterproofs & Wellies campaign, completed the Fan Dance Challenge at just 8 years old, won a Youth Pride of Somerset Award for his charitable work, and now he’s taking on his biggest challenge yet.

Over this May Bank Holiday, 10-year-old Aiden will be attempting the Ten Tors challenge on Dartmoor. He’ll be walking 35 miles over two days, wild camping along the way, and carrying his own proportionate kit weight.

All to help raise funds for Waterproofs & Wellies, so more children can get outside, play, learn and connect with nature in every season.

A huge thank you from all of us at The Outdoor Guide Foundation. Gina Bradbury Fox, CEO of TOGF, has sent Aiden a special good luck message ahead of his challenge.

You’ve got this, Aiden. We are so proud of you. 🥾🌿

Please support Aiden if you can. Every donation helps put waterproofs and wellies into schools across the UK.

May is National Walking Month 💚

A simple walk can do so much; it can clear the mind, lift the mood, ease stress and bring a little more balance to the day. Living Streets’ campaign encourages women to and take a walk or wheel each day in May for their own health, wellbeing and enjoyment. It also highlights the wider benefits of walking, from feeling happier and less anxious to building stronger communities.

So this month, make a little space for yourself.
Step outside.
Take the longer route.
Find ten minutes for fresh air and movement.

Because sometimes the simplest habit is the one that changes everything.

Tag the person who would love a May walking challenge with you, and save this as your reminder to get out there. 🥾
