Abandoned While Injured – My Story as a Chicken Inn FC Player
By Issah Ali
My name is Issah Ali, a player who signed with Chicken Inn FC. I write this not out of bitterness, but out of desperation and a deep desire for fairness.
In September 2024, during an official training session with Chicken Inn FC, I suffered a serious injury. At the time, I was fully committed to the club and still under a contract that is suppose to run until December 2025.
But instead of supporting me through recovery, the club chose to place me on the transfer list in January 2025 — fully aware that I was injured. I told them no club would sign an injured player, yet they moved on, stopped paying my salary, and left me with no support and no treatment.
What hurt even more was the false claim that I joined the club already injured. That is not true. No medical tests were done when I signed — that failure wasn’t mine, it was the club’s responsibility to assess and protect both the player and the team.
Now, because of this situation, I can’t take care of my family. Football is my livelihood, and it is my way of supporting my loved ones.
To this day:
I remain unfit to play
I have received no medical support
My salary and signing-on fee remain unpaid
All my efforts to resolve this respectfully have been ignored
I submitted a proposal with two simple options:
– Assist me in covering my treatment costs,
– Or provide a fair settlement that helps me get back on my feet.
But I’ve been completely sidelined.
I am sharing this publicly not to attack anyone, but because players deserve better. Injured athletes should not be abandoned and forgotten.
I’m appealing to:
The media, to help tell this story
ZIFA to intervene for the sake of player welfare
Fellow players and fans, to remember that behind every club jersey is a human being
All I ask is for fairness. Support with my recovery so I can rebuild my career and life.
Thank you for reading.
