🥊 On This Day: Ali vs. Norton III (1976)
** watch the full fight **

September 28, 1976, Muhammad Ali and Ken Norton completed their heated trilogy under the lights of Yankee Stadium, New York.

Ali, already the heavyweight champion, secured a controversial unanimous decision after 15 grueling rounds, moving 2–1 ahead in their rivalry. Many at ringside, including Norton himself, believed the decision could have gone the other way.

🔥 Fun Facts:

The fight drew over 30,000 fans to Yankee Stadium, but it didn’t sell out, a reminder of how tough heavyweight boxing’s business could be in the 1970s.

Norton was the man who famously broke Ali’s jaw in their first bout in 1973.

This fight was Ali’s last in New York City , the city where he first shocked Sonny Liston back in 1964.

Even today, the Ali v Norton rivalry is remembered as one of the closest and most debated trilogies in boxing history.

Ali walked away with the win, but Norton walked away with respect and fans were left arguing about it for decades.

📰 TGB’s Tom Brown Voices Support for TKO-Backed Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act

Tom Brown, president of TGB Promotions and a leading promoter for PBC events, has written to Congress in support of the TKO-backed Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act.

The letter — first revealed by journalist John Nash () — was obtained via the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC). Nash pointed out a key detail: the document was unsigned and dated November 5, despite being submitted earlier.

Earlier this month, the CSAC held a public meeting to consider supporting the act. 12 people spoke out against it including former UFC fighters, journalists, managers, and lawyers. All arguing that granting TKO Holdings more influence would harm the sport and disadvantage fighters.

🔎 What the Act Proposes:
The bill aims to update the 2000 Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act by expanding federal oversight, increasing transparency in contracts, and potentially giving TKO more say in how boxing is regulated. Critics warn this could centralize power in the hands of one company rather than protecting fighters.

While public testimony was unanimously critical, Brown’s letter signals that some promoters are backing the legislation.
