🎬 “The Sea Beast” is an animated action-adventure film set in a world where sea monsters are both feared and hunted. The story follows Jacob Holland, a renowned sea monster hunter, and Maisie Brumble, a spirited orphan girl who stows away on his ship, the Inevitable. Together, they embark on a journey that challenges their perceptions of the beasts they hunt and the world they know.
The film begins with the legendary Captain Crow and his crew, including Jacob, embarking on a quest to capture the elusive Red Bluster, a sea creature that cost Captain Crow his eye. However, during their pursuit, the crew encounters Maisie, who is inspired by tales of monster hunters and wishes to join their ranks. Despite initial reluctance, Jacob allows Maisie to accompany them.
Their hunt leads them to confront the Red Bluster, resulting in the ship being pulled under the sea. Jacob and Maisie find themselves swallowed by the creature but discover that the Red Bluster is not the monstrous being they expected. On an island inhabited by various sea beasts, they realize these creatures are misunderstood and not inherently evil.
As they return to their world, Jacob and Maisie face the challenge of reconciling their newfound understanding of sea beasts with the prevailing beliefs of their society, leading to a climactic confrontation that redefines their world.
Directed by Chris Williams, known for his work on “Moana” and “Big Hero 6,” “The Sea Beast” received critical acclaim for its storytelling and animation, becoming Netflix’s most-viewed original animated film. It was also nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 95th Academy Awards.
