It’s difficult to overstate the almost 50-year career of Sam McKnight. Accidentally falling into hair styling after helping at a friend’s salon in South West Scotland at 18, he then secured a training gig at the Molton Brown salon in London.
But after Mcknight was sent to style hair for a Vogue photo shoot, his career really took off. Styling everyone from Naomi Campbell to Cindy Crawford.

In 1990, McKnight met Princess Diana, with whom he worked with for seven years. He was even responsible for her pixie crop, after suggesting to her during a British Vogue photo shoot that he would “cut it all off” if he had free rein. She agreed immediately.
