Round off the year with this festive read, spell, and find activity! ❄️
Reinforce your students’ phonics knowledge while getting into the holiday spirit by playing Four in A Row: reading these seasonal words aloud, practising the spellings, and matching them to the illustrations.
Help your students learn to spell the high-frequency word "look" in four simple steps with these infographics from our series.
Segmenting the word, highlighting graphemes, and looking at other words containing the tricky sound and grapheme, are great ways to help students learn to spell high-frequency words.

Have you met Finn and his friends yet? Join them on their incredible quest into the unknown in Amber Guardians.
This 10-book series, which is focused on morphology, is designed to motivate older readers and build reading stamina. Each book has a higher ratio of text to illustration to bridge the gap between decodable readers and conventional books.
A complementary activity book is also available and is packed with exercises focused on suffixes, prefixes, and root words, as well as boosting reading comprehension and spelling.
Do you know which sound connects the homophones "hole" and "whole", "rode" and "road", and "soul" and "sole"? 💭
The answer is /oe/!
Working with homophones helps young readers understand that words can sound the same but have different spellings and meanings, strengthening their awareness of how sounds and graphemes correspond.
Teaching learners about graphemes equips them with the tools to become confident and fluent readers and writers. Students learn to connect sounds to graphemes, allowing them to decode (read) and encode (spell) words independently and accurately.
‘Decoding' involves translating the letters of the written word into sounds and then the spoken words, and is the reverse of 'encoding', which involves translating the sounds in a spoken word into letters.
For young learners to understand that the alphabetic code is reversible, decoding and encoding should be taught together.
As well as being a helpful reference tool in the classroom, this poster of three-syllable words can be used as part of fun phonics activities; such as having students create short poems or silly sentences using only the words from the poster.
