Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has denied claims that former governor of the state and political rival of her husband, Mr Peter Obi, was a godfather of one of their sons at baptism.

Her media aide, Dan Ezeigwe, said Mrs Soludo made the clarification after a video surfaced in which Obi claimed to be the boy’s godfather.

She said the claim was not correct and wanted the public to know the facts.

Engr. Clement Chukwukadibia Onyemelukwe initiated the planning and development of the electricity grid still used in Nigeria today when he became Chief Electrical Engineer in 1962.

Onyemelukwe is reputed as the "Father of Nigerian Electricity" and the first Nigerian to marry a peace corps volunteer ever.

Born April 1, 1933 in Nanka. He attended DMGS, a premier colonial-era boys secondary school in Onitsha, University College Ibadan for two years before he was sent by the British colonial government to Leeds University. Onyemelukwe hailed from Nanka in Anambra state.

Some of our people think everything is about short term or immediate profit and loss.

This mindset is what has made us lose our film industry from the East to Lagos. It's what cost us our lead position in manufacturing.

It is currently threatening our position in trade. If our elites refuse to think long term, they will continue to invest in places that promise immediate profit today while losing the strategic ground in the future.

This needs to change. Invest at home. Enugu, Owerri, Aba, Onitsha, Abakiliki and more cities and towns across the East are open for business. Invest here.
