"There are groups in Belfast who call themselves vigilantes. They act like the Gestapo, going around stopping and harassing immigrants."

5Pillars spoke with a Muslim community leader in Belfast who warned that the recent anti-Muslim violence isn't a random outburst; rather, it is part of a long-running campaign of hate by far-right Unionist gangs in the city.

Kashif Akram of the Belfast Islamic Centre urged the media and politicians to stop blaming an entire community for the crimes of individuals following Monday's knife attack.

Burned halal shops, mosques guarded by armed police and talk of racist paramilitary activity. Just a taste of the terror Muslims are witnessing in Belfast as 5Pillars correspondent Robert Carter discovers on his first day arriving in the city, where he finds a community under siege as Muslims retreat into their homes, terrified of continued attacks after days of violence and anti-Muslim pogroms following the June 8 knife attack.

The Met Police have made 107 arrests so far today of people holding up signs supporting Palestine Action outside Woolwich Crown Court.

Palestine Action was controversially proscribed by the UK authorities last year, although that decision is now under review.

The police have been making a large number of arrests of people demonstrating support for Palestine Action outside Woolwich Crown Court today.

Hundreds of protestors are outside the court to show support for the Filton 4 activists who were convicted of breaking into an Elbit Systems facility near Bristol and causing criminal damage.

The Filton 4 are being sentenced today, and their supporters held up signs which said:

“SAVING LIVES IS NOT TERRORISM. I SUPPORT PALESTINE ACTION”

The Filton 4, who are part of the Filton 25 group, damaged 40 "significant military assets" in the Elbit facility.

Elbit Systems produces 85% of Israel's military drone fleet. Drones are used in almost every attack on Palestinians leading to mass casualties.

A spokesperson from Defend our Juries said today: “Hundreds of people are willing to be arrested as terrorists to highlight that what is happening to the four young people being sentenced today should absolutely not be happening in a British court of law."

The Met Police have arrested a 52 year old man in connection with a sledgehammer attack on a Muslim family in East London.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “On Monday, 8 June at around 09:12hrs, police were called to reports of an aggravated burglary on Galbraith Street, Isle of Dogs.

“Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service. A 52-year-old man was detained in connection with the incident.”

The suspect was sectioned under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital by paramedics following the incident.

Although the Met believes this incident was mental health related, they say they are committed to tackling all forms of hate crime, including Islamophobia.

"A country that is accused of serious violations, and which is involved in the genocide in Gaza, is now trying to launder its reputation by hosting the World Cup."

Former Egyptian football legend Mohamed Aboutrika has accused the USA of sportswashing, and trying to distract people from its crimes by hosting the World Cup.
