Swiss commodity trader Mercuria Energy Trading will offtake 100% of copper concentrate production from a project in Bulgaria, advancing $250 million in payment, Kallanish reports.

The company announced Tuesday it will offtake around 195,000 wet metric tons (wmt) of copper concentrate in 2026 from Geotechmin’s Ellatzite project in Sofia province. The open-pit mine is located near the town of Etropole, but processing operations are located in the Mirkovo village.

Copper traded in London above the $12,000/tonne threshold on Tuesday, marking a fresh record in the last few trading days of 2025, Kallanish reports.

The three-month LME copper benchmark rose 1%, trading at $12,055/t at 12 pm GMT, having closed at $11,925/t a day earlier. The new all-time high continues a bullish run that has delivered a 36% increase so far this year.
