We were so pleased to attend the Seahorse Freight Association Journalist Awards 2024 last night, which celebrate high quality transport and logistics reporting.

Transaid's Project Manager, Thelma Ayisi, was invited to speak at the awards and provide attendees updates on Transaid's programmes. The awards raised more than £1,000 through a raffle on the night, an incredible amount. ✨

A huge thank you to the Meantime Communications and Seahorse Freight Association teams, and to all the attendees for their continued support of Transaid!

John Shingleton - RIP

With great sadness, the Seahorse Freight Association brings you news of the death of John Shingleton, a highly esteemed figure in shipping and logistics journalism, whose passing a fortnight ago has left a profound void in the industry. John was the owner and editor of the highly respected Handy Shipping Guide.

John was not just the helmsman of a freight directory and news source that many relied upon for insights into all modes of freight transport and ancillary services; he was also a beacon of journalistic integrity. His tenacity for uncovering the truth was as renowned as his ability to dissect the complexities of the freight industry, offering clarity to his readers.

Throughout his career, John Shingleton distinguished himself with a steadfast commitment to asking the tough questions. He embodied the essence of a journalist who could cut through the noise to reveal the story underneath. His dedication to journalism was matched by a gentlemanly charm and a sharp wit that endeared him to all who knew him.

His sense of humour, as much as his professional acumen, will be sorely missed by a community that valued him as a colleague and dear friend.

Our sympathies are extended to Jackie, John's wife; his children, Danny, Ben and John Junior; and their families at this sad time.

John's family have created a memorial page for him online: https://memorialsource.com/memorial/johnshingleton. You are invited to share your memories of John on the site.

Celebrating the International Day of the Seafarer today with the worldwide maritime community. Without seafarers, global trade and logistics would be very different. They are the backbone of commerce, delivering goods and resources worldwide. So we salute and thank you all for your invaluable contribution to our world.
