PASSION PICTURES, BBC Arts and Fremantle today announce The Beatle and the Bass (w/t), a new feature-length documentary with Paul McCartney, directed by Arthur Cary.

The film tells the story of Paul McCartney’s original Höfner bass guitar; its disappearance and the fan-powered quest to find it. For over 50 years it has been one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most enduring mysteries. Now, we discover the extraordinary story this iconic instrument has to tell.

Speaking in the documentary Paul said: “I think anything that’s nicked, you want back, especially if it has sentimental value. It just went off into the universe and it left us thinking, where did it go? There must be an answer...”

The Beatle and the Bass is a PASSION PICTURES Production in association with Footprint Media Partnership. The director is Arthur Cary. Editor is Paul Carlin and producer is Katherine Anstey. The Executive Producers are Emily Jeal and Hamish Fergusson. Associate Producers are Scott Jones and Naomi Jones. It was commissioned for BBC Arts and BBC Two & iPlayer by Mark Bell and Suzy Klein.

Fremantle is handling global distribution of The Beatle and the Bass (w/t).

Passion Pictures and The Mediapro Studio have announced a forthcoming Joan Rivers documentary, as you’ve never seen her before, directed by .camden

With unprecedented access to Joan’s own meticulously kept archives including newly unearthed home videos and hundreds of hours of previously unheard comedy recordings and audio tapes, alongside interviews with Joan’s family – including daughter Melissa – and closest confidantes, this hilarious (as-yet-untitled) feature documentary reveals the woman behind the punchlines; Mrs. Joan Rosenberg to those who knew her best. Told through a modern lens, this is a bold, emotional, and riotously funny portrait, as fearless and unfiltered as Joan herself.

“It’s a career dream for all of us at Passion to tell Joan Rivers’ story”, said Hamish Fergusson of Passion Pictures. “It feels especially fitting to be working with her daughter Melissa and to have assembled such an exceptional team of partners and creative talent to honour a true trailblazer - continuing Passion’s ambition to tell the stories of the most influential cultural figures of our time, in the most creative ways possible.”
