🎉 New Artist in Residence Update 🎉

We’re thrilled to welcome British painter Lyra Morgan to the Art Yard studio! From late August to early October, Lyra will transform the Art Yard Studio into a vibrant, meditative space for her residency concept, ‘Be Still in Flow’, a celebration of water’s beauty, energy, and timeless cycle. 🌊

Drawing on Impressionist influences, Lyra’s paintings hold both stillness and motion in the same breath. Visitors to the Art Yard Studio can expect an immersive experience inspired by the river, with the sound of water and river-themed music, historic Thames imagery from artists such as Turner and Monet, and walls alive with shifting colour.

As part of her residency, Lyra will feature in this year’s Thames Festival with an open studio programme for the month of September, inviting the public to step inside her workspace and see her process unfold.

🎥 Follow along as Lyra takes over our Instagram, sharing updates, behind-the-scenes moments, and sneak peeks into her incredible project. You won’t want to miss it! 👀

What a few weeks it's been in the studio! Ive just finished three pieces for my residency collection - "In the Endless," "Rifts," and "Between Forms." Each one pushed me in different directions, from seascapes to psychological landscapes to mythological narratives.
The collection launch event was incredible , there's nothing quite like watching people connect with your work in person and having those deeper conversations about art, identity, and transformation. The energy in the room was electric!!
It was a highlight meeting Natanya Barrett and diving deep into her practice. Her insights on Rorschach imagery, hybrid forms, and creating empowering mythologies gave me a lot to think about. This is one the things i enjoyed the most about this collaborative residency, I'm just about making work in isolation, it's about dialogue and community.
