A bit about the game:
SHUG is a boardgame set in Ol’ Engoland, where your aim is to find a creature called Shug, and get it to the pub. Along the way, you’ll befriend monsters by doing ludicrous challenges, duel your friends, and maybe kill King Charles the Cursed.
We created the game when we were 7 and 10. In lockdown we dug it out from our parents attic and began playing it incessantly, as well as reillustrating all our childhood drawings and refining the absurd mechanics.
There is a folkloric basis to Shug. Shug (often referred to as The Black Shuck) is like a bigfoot of the UK - a shaggy creature with hundreds of sightings since the 1500s. The game features tons of other monsters & legends that shaped these lands, now largely lost to time, from Hairy Meg to the Hag of the Mist.
