Let's talk about something nobody wants to talk about, but everybody notices.
There's a certain kind of silence that fills a room when a man walks in, and it's not respect. It's people quietly holding their breath, stepping back, or exchanging that awkward glance that says "please don't come closer." Gentlemen, we need to have this conversation.
Hygiene is not optional. It's not "extra." It's not something you do only when you "feel dirty" or when someone finally works up the courage to tell you. It's a daily responsibility, just like eating, just like breathing.
Brushing your teeth isn't a once-in-a-while activity. Morning and night. Every single day. Your mouth should not be the reason people turn their heads when you talk. Bathing isn't just for when you sweat. It's for every day, rain or shine, tired or not. Your body deserves that basic care, and so does everyone who has to stand next to you.Here's the hard part: nobody will always tell you. People will just quietly avoid you. They'll cut conversations short. They'll keep their distance without ever explaining why. You could be brilliant, kind, hardworking, and still get overlooked because of something so easily fixable.
This is not about shaming any man. This is about waking us all up.

If everything you offered wasn't enough for someone, kindly offer your absence.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can give someone isn't more effort, more explanations, or more chances.

It's your absence.

There's a certain kind of peace that comes when you finally stop trying so hard to fit into spaces that were never built to hold you.

When you stop over-explaining your worth to people who've already decided not to see it.

When you stop giving pieces of yourself to relationships that only take.

Your presence is a gift. Not everyone deserves it, and that's okay.

If they couldn't value what you brought when you were there, let your absence teach them what they lost.

Walk away with your head high, not out of bitterness, but out of self-respect.

Some people will only learn your worth in your absence. Let them.

A man's love for his wife should never be mistaken for an obligation to her entire family.
Let's have this conversation, because too many people are getting it twisted. When a man marries you, he's choosing YOU. He's building a life with you, a partnership, a home. He is not signing an unspoken contract to become the provider for your parents, your siblings, your cousins, or anyone else under your family tree. Yes, a good man will help where he can. Yes, love often extends generosity toward the people who matter to his wife. But generosity that comes from the heart is different from an obligation forced on him and that's difference matters.
If a man chooses to support his in-laws, that's a beautiful thing. It's an act of love, not a duty he owes.

On Friday, August 21, 2026, ařmed men attæcked villages (Gidan-Zana, Kpenya, Giyan Gbasu) in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, then stormed the Central/Kpenya Mosque in Dekara during Friday (Jumu'at) prayers, abducting worshippers including the village head and chief imam as they marched them into the bush. Roughly 100 people, women, children and elderly people had been abducted.

This is the 17th and now dædliest Ebola outbreak in DRC's history, caused by the Bundibugyo virus (a species with no licensed vaccine, though ERVEBO is being used for frontline workers).
