Celebrating 100 Years of Faraday Lodge No. 4798 ⚡️🏛️
Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Centenary Meeting of Faraday Lodge No. 4798, marking 100 years since its consecration on 19 June 1926.
Founded by a group of telephone engineers from Siemens Brothers in Woolwich, the Lodge has a rich and fascinating history rooted in engineering and innovation. Named in honour of the great scientist Michael Faraday, it has proudly served generations of Freemasons and continues to thrive today as one of Metropolitan Grand Lodge’s Special Interest Lodges for Engineering.
It was an honour to be part of the Metropolitan delegation as one of the two Metropolitan Grand Stewards, alongside my fellow steward W. Bro. Christos Bardas, supporting V.W. Bro. Huw Pritchard, Assistant Metropolitan Grand Master, on what was a truly memorable occasion.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of a 60-Year Long Service Certificate to W. Bro. David Hamblen. The accompanying tribute was both detailed and deeply personal, recounting not only David’s distinguished Masonic journey but also that of his father, W. Bro. Reg Hamblen. Between them, father and son have represented an extraordinary 90 years of Faraday Lodge’s 100-year history – a remarkable legacy of dedication and service.
There was also a lighter moment when Metropolitan Grand Inspector Tim Spriggs (himself a former Metropolitan Grand Steward) made sure that Christos and I were both in possession of our Metropolitan Grand Steward “horns” challenge coins!
Congratulations to the Worshipful Master, Officers and Brethren of Faraday Lodge on reaching this significant milestone. Thank you for your warm hospitality and for allowing us to share in such a memorable celebration.
Here’s to the next century of Faith, Integrity and Brotherhood.
