Science has been busy again. Over in Redcar, the Biffa Polymers plant is now using AI to pick out crushed plastic milk bottles on the conveyor belts, which means your empty four pinter can be back in the fridge as a shiny new bottle within about two weeks. More than 10 billion bottles processed there in almost 20 years, and the 200 strong workforce get to spend their time on quality rather than the tedious bits.

Friday Flipside ... a bit of proper music nerdery for your afternoon!

Sneaker Pimps' "6 Underground" from 1996 is built on "Golden Girl", a John Barry cue from the Goldfinger score in 1964. Skip to 1:05 in the original and there it is, plain as day ... the exact bit they took, harp and strings and all. And here's the kicker ... the cue was left off the original soundtrack album, so it sat in a vault for decades before somebody dug it out and made it a hit.

We love this stuff. Records get built out of other records, and the composer had no idea. Have a listen to the original, it's gorgeous!

Something rather wonderful has happened. Betty Bromage, 97, from Cheltenham, has been strapped to the top of a biplane again โ€ฆ her sixth wing walk since she turned 87, and a new world record with it. She did it to thank the stroke unit at Cheltenham General that cared for her last year, and this week she handed over a cheque for ยฃ4,350 to a round of applause from the staff. Her plan? Another go when she turns 100.

Some evenings the news is just kind.

Five moon bears who spent decades in cages on one of South Korea's last bear bile farms have just landed in Suffolk. Bara, Rumi, Saebit, Yonggi and Huimang travelled 5,500 miles to Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park near Ipswich, where a reserve has been built just for them, with trees, grass and room to climb, swim and simply flop about. Founder Jimmy Doherty says they will now live a "profoundly better life", and after a public campaign raised over 90,000 pounds towards it, plenty of people clearly agreed.

Someone out there is doing the good work.

Appledore Lifeboat Station in Devon has appointed Natalie Withey as its first female coxswain in 200 years! Ten years volunteering, up through navigator and casualty care, and now in command of the station's brand new Shannon class all-weather lifeboat. She's one of only 29 female coxswains in the country. Her words: "from the day I set foot in this station I wasn't treated differently".
