Lorca scrisse i Sonetti dell’amore oscuro nell’autunno del 1935, nella solitudine di una stanza d’albergo a Valencia. Undici sonetti di desiderio, angoscia e corpo in crisi — tenuti nascosti per quasi cinquant’anni dalla famiglia del poeta, che ne temeva le implicazioni. Quando finalmente apparvero, nel 1984, furono subito riconosciuti come una delle vette assolute della poesia sp****la del Novecento.

Il Diván del Tamarit, scritto tra il 1931 e il 1934, è invece un omaggio alla civiltà arabo-andalusa perduta con la Reconquista del 1492 — dodici gacelas e nove casidas che intessono amore e morte, desiderio e lutto, nel paesaggio simbolico di una Granada che non esiste più.

We’re moved to share that “The Diary from Gaza” — previously available as an ebook — is now in print.

This diary was never meant to be literature in the traditional sense. It’s a record: of displacement, of hunger, of days measured in survival rather than routine. We publish it not to make a political statement, but because testimony like this deserves to exist on a shelf, to be held, to be returned to.

Nearly a year after the ceasefire was announced, humanitarian conditions in Gaza remain critical, with military activity continuing to cause casualties and displacement.  For the people living this reality — and for the young woman whose words fill these pages — an agreement on paper has not meant an end to hardship. The conditions she describes have not, for many, gone away.

We think that matters. A diary like this isn’t a historical document yet. It’s still being written, in different words, by different people, every day.
